Title: Classical music fans, ahoy!
Post by: mamselle on April 08, 2020, 01:11:26 PM
Anyone else want to play?

;--}

I just found this--was pulling some other pieces for a student, and fell in love with it.

They're clearly having a great time...although I always think Barenboim is looking bemusedly at his fingers as if they were some kind of strange insect cavorting in front of him.

One of my at-home-more-than-usual projects is trying to learn the first piece from Messaien's Catalogue d'Oiseaux.

At this point, I do feel like I will eventually "get" it, but I don't yet.

Cool!

I was in the library at the Strasbourg Conservatoire de Musique several years ago, and found a facsimile edition of one of his pieces...which they had because they owned the real thing in their archives.

I didn't call for it, but I ready through the edition.

An oboeist Facebook friend of mine just posted a video of the ducks squawking outside her window.  I let her know they were doing a pretty good imitation of the Messaien.

I just happened on this:

The King's Singers' sound is reliably lovely; the visual setup is poignant.
