Dry Cheerios, with small sips of water or weak tea. I can eat a few at a time, pause, eat a few more. I may take an hour to consume a cup of Cheerios and 3-4 oz of water. After I'm comfortable that I can tolerate dry cereal and water, I try noodles in broth or cinnamon toast with minimal butter and sugar. Microwave popcorn also works.

Starting with small amounts of something plain works for me.

Eggos with a tiny bit of butter and a little maple syrup.

No suggestions, but your user name is the best!

Thanks, all!

I made a grocery list based on suggestions here.

clean, thanks for bringing up the importance of considering which foods will be the least unpleasant to lose. I have a habit of downing as much water as I can when I feel nausea coming on, in the hopes of diluting the acid and reducing the throat burn. Never tried chocolate chip cookies. That sounds even better.

Potatoes. Boiled, mashed, fried, roasted.

Mashed potatoes with veggie gravy. Maybe with some peas or some other green veg.

Eggs. Fried, boiled, poached.

And of course: potatoes and eggs.

Oh yes!  A friend of mine once called me "a potato-eating fool" when he saw me getting three spud-based sides at a meat-and-three meal.

I'll probably bake some this weekend.

For an upset stomach I go for ginger tea, saltines, chicken broth, and ginger ale.

General comfort foods?
pancakes, you can buy a "just add water" mix that is pretty darn good.
cheese, with or without sliced apples
buttered toast
English muffins
potatoes in all their forms: mashed, baked, fries, scalloped, etc.
chicken fingers
canned peaches
green peas

Ginger ale, tea, gatorade (especially if you are worried about the food coming back up - the extra stuff in gatorade might be helpful to replace some of the things you're losing).

For food:
Crackers, especially saltines, if my stomach doesn't feel good, though they aren't a general comfort food for me.
Mac and cheese, grilled cheese, any form of warm melted cheese.
Dumplings, especially soup dumplings. And/or Wanton soup.

Part one is a must for me.

I would eat "Wanton" soup every day! Best typo ever!

It's probably just as well that you can't do that.  It sounds like one of those things that's unhealthy if you have it too often.

When our girls were young (and even til today, I just realized), we'd do the BRAT diet for upset tummies:  bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast.  That can evolve as you start to feel better--add some peanut butter and bananas on the toast, etc.

Kid #1 always keeps a bottle or two of Pedialyte in her fridge. She says it works better than Gatorade to get the electrolytes back up, fast.

Hope you're feeling better, SCR!
