I'm glad your appointments went well, Langue_doc! It's nice to have a well organized office to visit.  Hope the cataract surgery goes well and that the recovery is easy.  Are you going to have to drive all that way back for the follow ups? And it sounds as though you and your sleep apnea doctor get along well.   Husband's sleep apnea doc retired, unfortunately (as did his PCP), and the doc who took over has different perspectives on treatment that husband is not as happy with.  I definitely miss having my PCP in the same building as various labs and specialists and am still trying to find a bunch of different docs here (including vision).  It's good to have some you are comfortable with! Thanks also for the towhee info.  I really had never heard of it! But although I feel as though I know a lot of bird types just from life experience, I guess it's a very tiny number of them.  At least I find tomtit more regularly now, so I will keep an eye out for towhee in the future.  Both of the birds are pretty cute!

Congratulations on all the successes yesterday!  I missed QB by one word—larboard—even with Shunn.   A new word for the collection!

Today, I am at genius with the pangram.

It sounds as though we may have a variety of answers for yesterday's LB.  Mine is wolverine-embrace.  So far, I do not have a solution to today's LB.

Langue_doc, I'm sending good wishes for the cataract surgery! I have had both my eyes done, and my husband is having cataract surgery next month.  I was terrified the first time, but honestly, there is nothing to it.  And you obviously have a terrific doctor.  Your sleep apnea doctor also sounds great—you are lucky.

SB - Found larboard after getting a definition from Wordplay board, then lots of Googling synonyms for port and finally just a list of nautical terms. Going for the ATHICG method again. ETA: Genius but that is a tricky set of letters.

LB - microwave-enable.  ETA: Solved in 5 so woohoo, beat the target of 6. Let's see what happens.

Happy solving! Got a TDAP shot yesterday so having some side effects. Got up to go to yoga but it's not happening.

I think larboard was tough.  Husband said there were a couple nautical answers in there, which helped, though I had to guess a bit on those.  I guess Sam also likes nautical stuff.  Congrats, Parasaurolophus!

Today I am one dumb point away from QB.  I feel like I've tried everything, but we also stayed up too late talking to the youngest, so now I am tired.  I hope to find this word by myself at some point! But I may have to have Shunn's help.  I wonder if my last one is one that you needed help with, cathwen.  Congrats on the QB!!

I got ambivalence-earworm yesterday, and ciao_yall helped me get the microwave-enable solution.  I tried again with the additional hint that mine was close to another solution (the schmofficial one, I guess), but I ran out of steam.  I like yours, cathwen! Sounds like the title of a novel. ;-)

Congrats on all your QBs and the double two-fers yesterday.

Got to almost genius before I left to do errands this morning. Completed Vertex and got a two-fer on my first attempt--woohoo!

cathwen, it's reassuring to know that your surgeries went well. I've been talking to people who've had the surgery, and they have all been pleased with the results.

ab_grp, hope husband finds a good sleep apnea doctor. Mine has been terrific especially during the early stages when I couldn't tolerate the mask that clamped onto one's nose and face. He suggested the nasal pillows and told me that I could get something to put over my teeth if the nasal pillows didn't work. It was reassuring to know that he uses the teeth guards as he has apnea. I've been using the nasal pillows since and never looked back.

Now that I got an easy two-fer, I'm not too concerned about finishing the bee. Getting ready to eat dinner as I couldn't think of what to eat before leaving for my errands. I think I'm going to be discombombulated all the way through the surgery.

Wow - I managed to squeak in a 4fer and haven't been able to repeat it. Definitely in 5. Maybe I should take whatever you are taking?

We got to team QB after figuring out we had each other's words.  My final one was not super tough, but I think it would have taken a long while to figure out (if I ever did).  We gave each other some clues and made it to the finish line together.

Congrats on your 2fer, Langue_doc! Wow, you are eating dinner early! Husband has the headband thing that kind of looks like headgear for braces, with a thing that goes in his nose.  I was not sure what nasal pillows are, but upon googling they look like what he has, I think.  An additional unfortunate thing is that they no longer make his preferred head attachment, so he has been trying to buy up a bunch of those supplies.  Things have come a long way since my dad had it (thankfully).  His machine was something else, and he didn't use it like he should have because it was such an awful contraption.  Husband was actually talking to a colleague yesterday about cpaps, and she mentioned an ozone cleaner, which we are going to look into since the doctor suspected the pneumonia might have resulted from or been associated with his cpap.

Have to do hard sudoku and then give LB a try!
