So in this book I am reading, the author mentions an incident he heard of.

An analytic philosopher is at a social meeting. Someone asks, so what do you do?
He says  I'm a philosopher.  She says, well, what are you working on?
He says, I clarify a few concepts and make a couple distinctions. It's a living.

That's it!

Another true incident.

Academic convention.  Jones' article is being discussed. A woman from the audience raises her hand and asks a question. The moderator asks her: I dont understand -- have you read Jones' article?
Woman answers: I AM Ms. Jones!     All eyes turn toward her.
