Can someone tell me the difference between a Microsoft Surface, Surface Book, Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, and Surface Go? I'm seeing all these names at wildly different price points.

The big thing when I was looking before Christmas is some are tablets, some are stripped down laptops, and some are power machines.

That Verge article led me to some others. While my Chromebook's touchscreen is very handy for scrolling, I don't see it as an absolute necessity. Here are products that are 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, 13" display (Lenovos are 14" display):

HP x360 Spectre (touchscreen, comes with pen): $1,100

HP 360 Envy: $950 no touchscreen, $1,150 with 4K touchscreen (I don't really see what the difference is beween Spectre and Envy)

Dell XPS 13 (no touchscreen): $900.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 (touchscreen, pen not included): $1,000.

Lenovo IdeaPad S940 (no touchscreen): $950.

Lenovo IdeaPad 5 (no touchscreen): $650 (don't see what the difference is between these Lenovo models).

It's terrible writing, used to obfuscate the fact that the authors actually have nothing to say.
