I got that was what you were referencing, but that slogan implies that the problem (low morale) is caused (or not improved) by the solution (floggings). In this case the failing grades are a direct result of the students' behavior, so it seemed that you were suggesting that the flunkings were driving the student's disconnect in class.

I can see that perhaps I misinterpreted what you were going for.
