Title: Validation Thread
Post by: mouseman on June 26, 2019, 08:46:05 PM
I thought that a validation thread is required here as well, since people are always in need of validation.

To start it, I will quote the first post of my original Validation Thread:

QuoteHave you hit on the Dean's spouse?  Had an affair with an undergrad?  Sent love poems to a professor?  Emailed the search committee chair every day?  Contacted potential advisers using text-speak?  Admitted to fraud to get back at your ex?  Viewed porn in your shared office?

If you've done any of those, or worse, don't go posting on your own threads and have to suffer the scorn and snark of the many forumites that don't understand.  Post here and I'll confirm that every single thing you've done, or want to do, is absolutely right and good, and the best idea you can think of.

Validation is guaranteed, no matter what you've done or want to do.

This Guarantee is only good as long as the action is legal.  The OP reserves the right to deny validation for actions that may result in lawsuits/jail time/death penalty.

So, people, please only post here if you either want to receive validation or validate somebody.

Reviving because needs must:

1. I had salad for lunch, because that would mean I could have cake afterward.
2. We neglected to wash the salad leaves sufficiently, so I actually had salad + dirt for lunch.
3. Therefore, I deserve TWO pieces of cake.

This reasoning is valid, please agree.

Not only do I agree that this is valid reasoning, I also feel inspired to have a salad with dirt so that I too can have two slices of cake.

Despite the fact that I have a lot to do already, I just sent encouraging emails and teasers to a group of folks whose work might be grantworthy, and from whom I might, later, get a spot of paid work out of it.

Please validate my sanity in this pursuit....

Absolutely sane! My brother refers to this as plow the field, plant the seed, weed and water, and pray the crops do well enough to buy a beach house.

Yea, welcome back mouseman!

I seek validation for having an extra chocolate truffle before returning to the article I am trying to finish today.

I promise to be good and eat my curry for dinner and go folk dancing afterwards, so it won't be a huge caloric addition to my diet.

Please, please, Pretty please???

First of all, it wasn't an "extra" chocolate truffle, it was just one of the truffles which you deserved.

Also, chocolate is good for extra energy, which you need, in order to make sure that the article is up to your exacting standards.

There is no such thing as "caloric additions". There is "I wish to eat this" and "I do not wish to eat this".

Curry is delicious, and dancing is fun.

I am praising the fora.org for the opportunity to meet the poster known as writing prof, who recently announced he was going to cease reading and posting on the forum because of the presence of several people for who he had developed 'a little hate.' Since that announcement, the meltdown of American society has accelerated and, true to form, most of the far left academic community, who have been instrumental in causing this destruction, thinks it's just fine. So writing prof did the smart thing and eliminated people he can't stand from his circle of acquaintances. Thank you, forum, for showing me someone with the integrity and candor to do that and explain why.

For the validation....

Thanks!

M.

For the following (which I didn't realize had come in after mine until I'd already posted my thank-you):

I think you might have posted to the wrong thread....but maybe mouseman wants to reply, because he started this thread, which doesn't function the way the poster above seems to think it functions...

as far as i can tell, anyway...

So what do you want me to validate?

the logic and legitimacy of my thanking the forum for providing the opportunity for someone to credibly point out that it has way too much rot in it, and then back up his words.

I seek validation for going toe-to-toe with HR.  Even though the faculty contract, board policy, and Federal law are on my side (in a no-brainer kind of way, that leaves little question that HR is wrong and acting illegally), it's highly likely that I'm not going to get the determination I want.

Does the Validator offer validation for those who still have some sense of fighting for the right, even though I'll probably lose yet again (I've been shot down twice in as many days)?

ETA:  Yeah, I'm really excited to start classes next week. //sarcasm

Yes, AmLitHist! Fight the good fight! Your efforts are valid! Rage, rage against the dying of the right!
