I finally finished the data analysis that I've been procrastinating on all week and everything looks fine for the next step.
I'm going to give myself a cookie (literally) then go for a walk.

That's always such a relief. Enjoy your cookie and walk.

I started my first teaching position last fall and it has been a rough ride. During that time, I felt very overwhelmed but still worked on writing an article. I submitted it and it will be published this fall. They did ask for a couple revisions to be made but I just finished those revisions and sent it in this morning.

I'm very proud of the paper, especially as I wrote it with no support from my community college, during my first year teaching, and during a pandemic.

About 12,000 words written on my draft this week.  If I can keep this up, I should have a first draft knocked out in just a few more weeks.  Then I can get started on the second draft--the one I can actually start showing people.
If in this life only we had hope of Christ, we would be the most pathetic of them all.  But now is Christ raised from the dead, the first of those who slept.  First Christ, then afterward those who belong to Christ when he comes.

Congrats! Writing a paper in the last year was very difficult. I'll be honest. I only have one paper published so far in 2021, but it was a paper that I started before the pandemic.

Hoooray for all the productive writing people have been doing.

I have successfully scrubbed the bathroom today. Not just the bare minimum to keep mold from developing. I took a toothbrush to the grout and everything.

My bathroom may never receive that level of attention again....

It was Approved!

We are adding my major to our college's online offerings.  (IT is designed so that we can capture those CC graduates that are too far or too busy to attend an upper division university).  The process of adding the classes is that we have to design and develop the classes and then get the content approved by the chair and the Online Education folks who have no idea about substance, but check you for ADA compliance, and a plethora of other crap!

You class can be 'failed' for things like not having your syllabus compliant... like having words underlined, because underlining is reserved for links ONLY.  So the annoying issues are that the college required format for the syllabus content includes things like underlined content!  (So one admin critter sends us boiler plate we must include and another says 'fix it'!).

Anyway, I dealt with them a few  years ago and it was a huge SUCK of Time!!

BUT I PASSED!  My recent submission was accepted without any required modifications!!

(unfortunately, the paper we submitted to a journal last month, was outright rejected!)

Double vax! Double vax! I have got two shots in the arm! Just you wait until August 14th, world! I'm going to have the hell out of some coffee and donuts at an outdoor cafe!

Yes! It's a very liberating feeling.

Our research proposal was approved for funding by PCORI this past Tues!  It's been a long process starting over two years ago and persevering through one rejection.  But now, we can start our research project.  It feels good!

Thirty pages on my second draft last week.  If I can stay on track, I might have a second draft that I can actually let people look at by the beginning of September.

I am no longer chair (as of 1July).  I managed to spend the month of July doing NOTHING work related.  That was not easy, but now I can ramp up for the fall with a clear head.
I'd rather have questions I can't answer, than answers I can't question.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Reprove not a scorner, lest they hate thee: rebuke the wise, and they will love thee.

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.
