My R&R, which I resubmitted in January (or was it February?), has been accepted, pending some hefty pruning for a strict word limit. I'm surprised--R1 loathed it, and thought I got something important completely bass ackwards (I didn't).

So today, it's the translation quota and some de-anonymizing and pruning.
I know it's a genus.

Congrats! Last night I submitted all Spring grades then cranked out a chapter proposal. I submitted it around 1 AM and when I woke up, the book editor already had invited me to submit a full chapter by 6 AM! I am hopefully going to submit another proposal or two with my spouse next week for the same book.

My bibliography put me 1000 words over the count. Today, I cut 600 words. Unfortunately, the journal wants both a bibliography and a full citation for every footnoted reference. So I need to cut another ~1400 words... 0_o

Translation quota and at least some token cuts today.

Quota today, and should keep writing June Paper before I lose steam. Token cuts would be good, too.

After a sustained bout of writing, I got an article submitted a day before the deadline. Now it's time to dig into research for a conference paper that I've been looking forward to. However, before that is a celebratory and large glass of wine.

Wrote a tiny bit, and cut about 100 words (and formatted the bibliography; alas, the notes require full citations, so that will undo all of my hard cutting work.

Still just translating and cutting today.

Still just translating and cutting today.

Somehow found 432 more words to cut. And wrote ~200.

I'll do my translating, then start plugging full references into the accepted paper's notes, to see how much more needs cutting.

Did the translating, and formatted the bibliography so that I can copy/paste it for the notes. Why on earth is the formatting for the notes and the bibliography so different? Sigh.

Today I'll plug the note references in and watch the word count balloon back out of control. And translate my bit.

I managed to cut a further 300 words, but the doubling of the references means I should ideally find another 300 or so. Ugh. That'll be, like, 2000 words cut from a paper that was only 8500 long to begin with.

I also got an R&R from a specialist journal I otherwise can't seem to crack. So that's nice. The revisions, though minor in terms of content, sound like a headache.

Translating, per usual, plus maybe some cutting and ideally a little writing for the June paper. I suppose I should ask when the deadline for that is, exactly.
