Starting off November...

This last week, I submitted the manuscript for the critical text with edited collection with the changes requested by reviewers. It's a project my contributors and  I believe in and are happy to get into print - but I think this has been the most exhausting of all the book projects I've worked on.

I am going to try to see if setting my goals out to the universe will help with accountability. My heavy fall teaching load takes a lot of my time so I am setting my expectations low. This month I will finish the manuscript review I started (due by Monday), then work on getting the paper that has been sitting on my desk since late September submitted or at the very least finish editing and send it out to the co-authors to final review and then for submission in early December. In between, I have a lot of experiments and data collection to do myself now since I had to let my RA go (long sad story there).

Well done starting the thread!

Monthly goals:

  • More work on book 2 (ideally, finish up a chapter or two)
  • Finish translating my chunk of T4
  • Write up a referee report

Stretch:

  • Start writing up the T4 introduction
  • Start on New Paper 1
  • Meet a friend about (/start) a new co-authored paper

Today, I need to go over article proofs. If the hatchling naps, I'll start my referee report and do some marking.
I know it's a genus.

  • Book #1 (solo) - finish draft of Chapter 8; get ball rolling on draft of Chapter 9
  • Book #2 (with colleague) - finish draft of Chapter 7
  • Brainstorm on new project(s) with colleague(s)

Backburner projects:
  • Paper #1 (with colleague)
  • Paper #2 (with colleagues)
  • Paper #3 (solo)

Somehow raced through the proofs, but there was no nap, so nothing more got done. The no-nap-with-me thing is getting to be a problem, especially this semester, when 4/7 days are entirely with me. I do need time to do my work at some point. At least this semester is almost over...

While I'd like to start on the report, I really, really have to mark during whatever sliver of time I have today.

Well, I marked another whole class, so that's 4/5 sets of midterms. I also did some T4ing in between, as a reward; I only have two pages of T4 left to go.

November goals

  • Find a new publisher for Latest Monograph. The full manuscript got two glowing reviews and one tepid review at the last publisher, but the board decided it didn't suit and passed on it.
  • Complete two more chapters on Next Monograph.

Best wishes to all of you as you forge ahead!

Not much chance of a nap today, so I'll just hope to finish up my chunk of T4.

November Goals
  • Organize reviews on book manuscript by chapter as they come in
  • Respond to reviewer comments and make revisions as much as possible

I am supposed to get the remaining four peer reviewers' feedback by the 17th so I need to scramble to make book revisions and respond to comments since I need to get them in before December 15th. I also may have to reach out to the case study contributors if their cases need more than minor edits and get them to do a quick turnaround on revisions.I have not heard on my sabbatical manuscript (which has "awaiting final decision" status for a month now, argh) nor the AI chapter with my spouse which was submitted in August and was supposed to have a decision in October. It will be a busy month!

Done, even started the intro.

1300 words towards Next Monograph today.

Some referee report progress expected today.

My first email this morning was a conditional accept on the sabbatical project manuscript! One reviewer wants more revisions so I get a month to turn it around. I am SO relieved!
