Now the shop tells me they can't even look at it until next Thursday. Oh well. I keep trying to find the bright side in everything but I can't help bitching about all the things that went wrong over the past few days, this breakdown was just the icing on the cake. At least I am still alive! :)

Ugh, that's awful. It happened to me and the hatchling last year. I somehow managed to get the car parked on the side using just my momentum (I was going uphill when it happened, and I noticed before I started going back). It ended up having to get rebuilt, which was hella expensive.

UGH that's the worst! I got my car serviced a few weeks ago, and now I'm noticing tiny spots of oil in the garage. Do I have a leak? Is this from something else? The oil level hasn't seem to dropped, but the dealership told me they won't be able to make an appointment until Jan. When I told them that I'll be traveling and I want to make sure I don't have a massive breakdown they said "well you can try to bring it in next Tues and leave it with us and hope we can fit you in." I NEED for that to happen!

No good deed goes unpunished. Not. F*cking. Ever.

Unrelated: Yes, "Dinner! Come make your plates!" was called, and you-all just kept sitting there yacking. So the rest of us went ahead and made our plates of food. And then we ate them, before it got cold. We're sorry if you-all are new to this process, jerks.

After many days of moving ending at 4am and two days of the hatchling waking up at three am, we're moved in. But the hatchling bumped into the oven in the new place--just a bump, very minor--and the oven door just... Shattered.

It must have had some micro-fractures. Unfortunately, it's a $1700 oven. On the plus side, that's not much more than replacing the cooktop (which I cracked while moving stuff) would have cost. I sure hope the new one isn't as brittle. =/

Update! They got my vehicle in early to diagnose and sure enough I need a new (rebuilt) transmission. $7000.00! VENT #45^&#, %^$#!!!@ Vent!

Happy holidays mechanics. Gulp... Oh well, I keep telling myself thank goodness we are in a position where I can get it fixed, but I am alternating with feeling sorry for myself. There are so many other things I would rather spend that money on... :)

Oh wow @bio-nonymous, that's quite an unexpected whack. My commiserations. Did they recommend getting a new car instead?
Genuinely glad that you can get it fixed though.
Hope your bad 'car'ma is all done and all else is smooth sailing.

Yeah. It made sense for us, because although it's a 20 year-old car, it only had about 150k km on it at the time, so buying a new used car would have cost the same but would have come with more kilometres and possibly other troubles.

Your mileage may well vary though! There's no shame in putting that 7k into another car instead.
