He did so well after 9/11. What happened?
Combination of arrogance, ignorance, and senility?

Every man has a price where they will sell out. For Mayor Rudy, the price seems to be $20,000/day. Of course, he's an even bigger idiot, if he thinks that Trump will actually pay him.

My husband and I have been talking about this for weeks. For years, we liked and respected (though didn't always agree with) Giuliani. He's certainly not well.
We have a tendency to assume that authoritarians in the US are crazy, as opposed to just being authoritarians who weaponize lies to maintain power when legitimate means fail. Trump is not that different from Putin, it is just that the US has better institutional guard rails, and Rudy is not that different from Putin's propagandist henchmen.

It's not just an American idea. Plato thought that tyrants were crazy, too. Run a quick Alphabet search and you'll see how many pundits have already made the connection.

Fair enough, but when Americans look at authoritarians in foreign countries they see calculating thugs. When they look at those same sorts of figures in the US they see bumbling fools, and therefore fail to take authoritarian threats seriously.
I saw the title and came here hoping for news he'd been hauled off in cuffs or a straitjacket. Dang.

:D Hee hee.
And now he is hospitalized with Covid, and the AZ legislature shut down since he hung out with so many of them recently.
His personal life is like a soap opera. He was cavorting around with his mistress while still married to his second wife. The mistress and not the wife would accompany him to official events. I think (not sure about this) he got rid of wife #1 by realizing (gasp, the horror!) after 10 years of marriage that he was living in an incestuous marriage and had the marriage annulled, just because a divorce would have been expensive and he was in a hurry to marry his mistress who became wife #2. The above-mentioned mistress became wife #3, now divorced. Wife #1 ended up as president of one of the community colleges.

He did make the city cleaner safer after the Dinkins era. Subway cars would be washed down first thing in the morning, and the streets and subways were much safer. However, the 9/11-related fame got to his head with dire results.
The sequence of headlines seems to imply that he was admitted to the hospital and then tested positive for COVID-19.
So, was he ill enough, whether with COVID-19 symptoms or something else, to be admitted to the hospital where they discovered the COVID-19? He says he was taking hydroxychloroquine, which is not advised outside of hospital settings so perhaps it was a reaction to that?
Or did they test for COVID-19, then as a precautionary measure bring him in for super duper treatment such as with Trump?
Perhaps it was a psychological intervention and he was on a psych eval?
The Arizona legislature wouldn't have shut down for a week for being exposed to someone exhibiting psych symptoms. It is interesting though that Trump was the one to announce the news of Guiliani testing positive.
If you scroll down the article, you can see the number of people exposed to COVID by coming into contact with an infected person in the White House.

Treasonous
I haven't been for it until now, but these people need to be prosecuted (up to the top). If treason and sedition aren't serious enough for charges then I don't know where we draw the line.
He's still considered to be alive and kicking. According to the news, Trump is considering him for his impeachment defense team. Two senile men--three if you include Dershowitz, the second lawyer on the defense team.
Reptile brain. An attorney may like the challenge of arguing a position that some see as untenable. And if he doesn't have fun or loses, he's still getting rich.
For some arguing may release hormones, dopamine or some such thing that is euphoric. Don't ask me how I know.
Apparently, the NY Bar is moving to disbar him.

It sounds terrible to say it out loud, but if only Trump supporters had assaulted the demonstrator at his rally several years ago after Trump asked them to, might we have been rid of Trump way back then?

Rudy and little Stevie Bannon are willing to suck it up for a pardon.
The latest, from the NYTimes:
"After 2 Impeachments, Giuliani Vows to Continue His Fervor for Trump
White House officials are universally angry with Rudolph W. Giuliani and blame him for both of President Trump's impeachments. But he remains one of few people still willing to join Mr. Trump in the foxhole."
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/14/us/politics/trump-giuliani.html
Apparently he won't get paid: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/14/trump-refusing-to-pay-rudy-giuliani-legal-fees-after-falling-out (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/14/trump-refusing-to-pay-rudy-giuliani-legal-fees-after-falling-out). One thing I've learned over the past four years is: If you must deal with Trump, get paid in advance.

Nah, Trump didn't think he merited one, or most likely, Rudi didn't come up with the required amount.

I was in the doctor's office earlier this week assiduously filling out forms when I heard his name. There was his face on TV, promoting his cameo. There were three other celebrities for the wrong reasons whose cameos cost more--Donnie Jr, Sarah Palin, and a third who I promptly forgot. I'm not sure if I heard his name on the TV or if it was another patient who called out his name.
Never a dull moment in the doctor's office.
To think that Rudi who helped the city cope with the aftermath of 9/11 has fallen so low.

You can book him on cameo at https://www.cameo.com/rudygiuliani?qid=1628875274 . Notice that he makes no connection to Trump. This means that he no longer sees any value in associating himself with Trump.
I actually like cameo. I use cameo, in lieu of sending virtual greeting cards.
Rudy is a sh1tstain on what is otherwise a very fun site.
