I recently received an email from someone at Academic Studies Press inquiring about translating my book in Russian. ASP seems somewhat legit in the field of Russian Studies, but they are unknown in my field. I'd love to know if anyone has any experience with them. It's not outside the realm of possibility that my book might have a Russian language audience, though a small one. But it's not the first language that would come to mind for a translation. They want me to provide an unspecified subvention in order to aid with translation and image reproduction, but this is normal in my field. I am skeptical, but also curious.

Also, in general, does anyone have experience with having their book translated? Especially into a language they can't read?

It is a niche press. I have not published with them but many U.S. colleagues have published with this press, I believe there will be a need for a subvention.
