Title: calendar software question
Post by: clean on November 30, 2021, 11:28:09 AM

the short question is that I am looking for a software package that will allow me to create calendars.

The longer version is that a few years ago I got a 5 year calendar from At a Glance. Each year I would get the refill for the 5th year.  However, 2024 was the last year that they sold the refills.  (initially was a delay , but recently they have simply stated that they no longer have that product).  So I am now looking or some software that will allow me to print the Month At A Glance type calendar formats.  DO you have any idea of what software I can get to make calendars?  (Ideally, I would like to add my own dates to print into something similar to the Month at a Glance calendar)

Any thoughts?

Word has calendar templates, and there are also lots of printable calendar pages available for free online.

Vertex has several varieties of weekly and monthly calendar templates (Excel).
https://www.vertex42.com/calendars/

Scroll all the way down to see the monthly calendar templates.

Here are some of the weekly templates.

I like the second and third templates on this page:

Thank you very much!

Since posting, a coworker had alerted me that Excel had several templates available.  A you tube page indicated that I could search for more templates and the Vertex42 site has some good ones.

I have now emailed them for more information on one. I prefer the 2 page calendar, but in 2 pages, they have a planner, not a calendar.
I hope that they can simply tell me how to adjust the column widths and perhaps do a few other minor adjustments to get it to work, or merge the planner with the calendar function.

I have been looking into the template and it looks like it is not too too hard to program once you get the first row or 2 set up.  Still, it indicates that there is a LOT in the excel functions that I dont know how to do!  (mostly because I dont deal with the date functions I think)

BUT once this is done, I hope that it will make this an easy process and will allow me to continue to give my relative calendar updates to the 5 year calendar I  bought several years ago!  Those of us that use a paper calendar really appreciate the ability to plan years in advance!

clean, you can adjust the dates, time-slots and also the fonts once you download the templates. You don't need to know how to use Excel as you will be making only minor adjustments to the templates. I used to get the At-a-glance weekly calendars but would also have the printouts of the monthly and weekly calendars in the binders for each of my courses so that I could see the due dates for the assignments for each class.

I have figured out how to do what I want to do in an efficient manner. I spent several hours last night trying different things.  Too much detail to provide here, but suffice to say that I have enough knowledge to be dangerous!  One of the founders replied to an email last night and that solved one issue that will save a lot of time when I work on it today.

My goal was to replicate the At A Glance Monthly planner/calendar which has six small calendars in the side margin (the prior month, current month and the next four months).  I can see a similar feature on their planner, but only the next 2 months on the planner, but not the calendar.  I was thinking that I could replicate the planner functions in the calendar functions, but that is where my excel knowledge fails.

For now, I will finish the calendar feature that I need for now so that I can prepare gifts for my mom and niece (who would have been gifted the next calendar to keep their 5 year calendars to 5 years), but then I can buy myself some time to figure out the issue later.

Still I am impressed that there are pre-done calendar templates already loaded in Excel and that Vertex42  provides additional templates for free!

Will you add photos to the gift calendars, or are these just basic print-outs?

M. (stirring up trouble, I suspect...)

No pictures. They have FaceTube for such things.

It started when I got my mother, my niece, and myself a 5 year calendar.  My mom tracks the maturities of her CDs in hers.  Im not really sure what my niece tracks, but she is a kindergarten teacher (i think) and likes the longer term calendars over the term planners.

While this will not have pictures I do personalize the information for each to include birthdays and anniversaries of relatives.  (as my niece is actually my nephew's bride, I am working now to include HER family information - at least what i can get from my sister in law... it may not include her parents' information, but once I give her THIS rendition of it, she can alert me to those dates and future updates will include all that she includes.
