Wednesday was a lovely fall day, sunny with mild temperatures. The clouds started coming in around sunset, resulting in the sky looking like a sheet of marble. It was almost full moon, so we could see the moon in the middle of what appeared to be a circle of rainbowish clouds. That was the only dry day this week.

It has been raining steadily since yesterday afternoon and will continue to do so until Saturday morning.

Sorry to hear that things are so soggy out that way, Langue_doc, but I'm glad you had a lovely, dry day and a moon view to break it up! Hopefully you will have another lovely day at the end of the rain this weekend.

On the MTA website:
QuoteMajor service disruptions due to flooding
Subway and Metro-North service is severely disrupted due to heavy rain and flooding. Please stay home if you don't need to travel. If you must head out, use extra caution and check the service status for your line before you go.

Thankfully, our street doesn't seem to be affected, but I feel sorry for those living in basement apartments.

Highs near 90 for the next week, with a couple of potentially record-breaking days on the way.  It does sound like the pattern will change and fall might actually arrive next weekend, though.

Hazy skies are back!

QuoteWildfires in Canada Expected to Cause Hazy Skies Over New York
The impact on air quality was expected to be mild, but New Yorkers sensitive to air quality should take extra care, officials said.

The weather forecast called for sunny skies today, but it's raining now. The latest forecast calls for rain and thunderstorms this afternoon, so the rain's ahead of schedule. Rain and thunderstorms tomorrow, resulting in the cancellation of bird and other walks/hikes.

We've had two days of slow off-and-on rain, which we needed.  Temperatures aren't yet down to fall levels, but it finally no longer feels like July.

It's raining and will probably rain all day.

First chilly morning of the year!  At long last!

We were in the low 80s most of this week, now it's in the 50-60s for the upcoming week. I guess I'll be switching over to hot coffee soon.

A cool weekend, rising back into the low-mid 80s for this week.  It's supposed to go down again in a couple of days.  Right now it's cool, with a moderately hot afternoon ahead.

After this summer, it's hard to remember what it was like not being hot every single day.  A certain staff member of ours has already begun moaning about what a terrible, terrible cold, hard winter we have ahead.  She's been saying that every year, starting when we have our first cool day and lasting until spring.  This despite the fact that winter has all but vanished in our region in recent years.  We've had some very brief cold snaps, but no snow and seldom even any frost anymore.  Yet she continues every year to talk like we're facing a harsh New England winter.  I don't know what's caused this fear and loathing of even mildly cold weather, or this conviction that every year we face a freezing ordeal.

Today has been nice and cool and not as windy as yesterday, but I have been sneezing nonstop.  I just cannot tell what combo does this to me from the data reported in the pollen app.  It's not even a particularly high pollen day! But I am very happy with the cooler weather.

Rainy here most of the day and evening. I mowed the lawn yesterday so that's out of the way.

Anyone see the ring of fire today?

We were fortunate enough to see it, or at least about 95% of it.
