This is what happens in English primary and secondary schools. It means that everyone knows when families can go on vacation, and prices are raised accordingly. Which means that families take their kids out of school during term-time, so they can actually afford to go to the Lake District or on that quick jaunt to Paris. So ... not a good strategy after all.

I think most faculty just see that the list is long and trying to schedule around them is futile.
Your institution has a "spirituality office?" The faculty's attitude to their no doubt well-meaning list of religious holidays is probably pretty typical of the response to a lot of what these sorts of offices put out.
The full name would reinforce your impression. The name used to have the word "religion" in it. Perhaps in the distant past that was the full name. There is a staff of about three dozen chaplains who have rather conventional chaplain responsibilities. They report to the Dean of Students.
Quote from: jimbogumbo on Today at 01:46:49 PMI assumed they meant (rightly, in my opinion) it would be problematic for a political appointee to do this merely because someone complains. For example, University of Florida loses non-profit status because random Dem congressperson complains to WH.
