This was my wife's issue. She dropped out of college in '08. She'd developed a neurological disability (and that directional state school had little in the way of disability services). She started working full time as a way to get insurance. Additionally, there were the initial student loans. So by the time we'd married and moved to my current place, her ancient GPA proved a significant hurdle for both enrollment and financial aid
