super bowl
« on: February 13, 2022, 08:37:32 PM »
Is it just me, or were the commercials the lamest in years?   The only really good one was Zeus and Hera, with the old boy recharging golf cart batteries with his handy thunderbolts.   But maybe I am prejudiced, as a classicist.

I may also be getting old, but it also seems that the brakes have been totally left off of the halftime shows, in terms of semi-pornographic scantily clad dancing, etc.   Do they not realize children are watching?

Zeus was also one of maybe 6 or 7 electric car commercials, all for different makes.  Are these cars really practical to own yet, given the time to charge them, the availability of places to charge them, and the miles on a charge?   And, of course, the vast majority of the electricty in the US is *not* being generated by wind, water, and solar, either.

I totally agree about the commercials — I found myself wondering if I was getting too old to find them good, or if they were just bad. And I always skip watching the halftime show. At least the game was enjoyable!

I really enjoyed Meadow Soprano and her brother for the Chevy electric truck, and Colin and Scarlett for Alexa.
