QBwSBB for actuator and I got a few hints but don't recall what they were for. Did remember tocatta.

LB with a nudge for gingko-overstay. Lots of weird solutions lately. How quickly did we all find vegetarians and then get bummed that skoy would not work? (Raises hand.)

Happy solving!

Good morning!

Got to genius with the pangram so far.  Yesterday we had team QB, but I was missing bootee, echoic.  I thought bioethic might be in there (but would be another pangram), and I guess coact(or) went away (from two days ago)? Maybe we already talked about that.

No luck on LB yet again despite some contenders.  Yep, ciao_yall, I tried skoy! Sometimes it works to just put the remaining letters together, never know.  Might as well try.

Langue_do, if any of the blister solutions work well, please let me know! Husband just got a big one on his foot.  I hope something helps you and that the route scouting goes or went well.  I never did get a nap but did sleep a little better last night.  Hopefully I can catch up a bit this weekend, though they say it doesn't really work that way.  Definitely feeling a bit more alert though, thankfully!

Happy solving!

Good afternoon!

QBwH to find echoic.  I also tried bioethic and coactor and was surprised when they were rejected.  Today I am at genius with the pangram, but it's kind of a slog.  I may need help later.

LB: I had boards-scholasticism.  I have a 2fer today also.

As for the previous puzzle, yes, I tried skoy after finding vegetarians.  I was so frustrated to have such a good word with four remaining letters that I couldn't do anything with!

Sending healing thoughts for those blisters!

Happy puzzling!

Morning!

QBwG, last word techie. And got a strange 2fer birds-scholasticism but it took so I kept it.

Happy solving!

Afternoon!

Pangram which got me to genius before leaving for an event this morning. I know I made it to QB yesterday, but am not sure if I had to resort to BB.

Thanks, cathwen and ab_grp.

ab_grp, I ordered moleskin and Band-Aid Brand Hydro Seal Waterproof All Purpose Adhesive Bandages for Wound Care or Blisters, 10 ct, but learned subsequently that moleskin shouldn't be applied onto blisters. I also needed something right away so applied a leftover bandaid, 2.25x3" (this is the size of the bandaid after removing the sealed paper covering)  from an old CVS assorted pack of bandaids. Much to my surprise, I was able to walk for about three hours yesterday in uneven terrain, and the bandaid also survived this morning's shower. Since the blister is mostly on the sole just behind the big toe, with a bit on the side by the bunion area, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to hike until the blister had healed. I do wear thick hiking socks even in warm weather, so a large bandaid along with thick socks should help with your husband's blister. If you don't have the large rectangular ones, you could try a couple of thinner ones, applied side by side until you get to the drugstore. I haven't used the product I purchased, so cannot comment on its efficacy or lack thereof.

QBw2LL, last word zanily. LB fluoridation-nohow.

Lange-doc and ab_grp, you can also put Vaseline on the blister underneath the ordinary Bandaid. Still, I highly recommend those poofy blister care bandaids like those Lange-doc ordered.

Moleskin works to protect areas that can get blisters if you don't have one already. You can also cut a piece into a donut shape so that the blister itself is bare but the skin around it is raised so the moleskin around the blister absorbs the pressure of the shoe and not the blister itself.

Good morning!

Got to genius with the pangram.  We needed bee buddy for gangling, lallygagging, zanily.

I finally got a 2fer right before bed again, wolfhound-dilator.  Congrats on yours, ciao_yall! I have some contenders today, but nothing solid yet.

Thanks for the blister care tips, Langue_doc and ciao_yall! I will pass them on to my husband.  I think he is putting some weird pressure on his insoles at the ball of his foot but am not sure what exactly he's doing.  The left insole actually wore down in that area, but the right foot has the blister in that area.  He wears different shoes for biking, so these are only walking and rowing.  Seems like that might happen if you pivot or turn or something like that.  Anyway, he switched shoes, so hopefully he can protect this blister for now.

Happy solving!

Good morning!

QB yesterday with help for gilling, gangling, sanity. Today I have the pangram and am a few words shy of QB.

LB:  I had northward-dutiful. Lots of variety with this one!  I have one today, too, but it took some time.

I am filing the blister recommendations away for the future.

Happy puzzling!

I have not gotten to genius in the 11 days since our baby was born. I'm still doing it, but I think something must be broken in my brain...

Langue_doc

Good morning!

Pangram and above genius so far. I should have seen the pangram early on, but didn't. I made it to QB yesterday, but probably needed BB. Too many things going on--missed several crosswords in a row.

Welcome to the thread, Caracal, and congratulations on the new baby. It's understandable that your brain's been on the frizt these days.

As for blisters, I remember having to wear sock liners back in the days when I lived in the Midwest. We would get to the meeting place, take off the shoes we were wearing, slather vaseline on our feet, put on the sock liners and then the hiking socks over them. I think I still have a pair of sock liners somewhere. These days though, I've been wearing Smartwool socks, the PhD ones (I'm not kidding), which seem to have gone down in quality since the original company sold the business. They used to be all wool, didn't pill, and were quite comfortable even in summer, but now they seem to be only 50% or so wool. I've not needed vaseline since switching to Smartwool socks. The recent blister was the result of something wedged between the sock and the shoe.

On that note, happy solving, and good weather. Our forecast was for scattered thunderstorms, so we rescheduled the hike, but it's been dry since early morning.

ab_grp

Good morning!

Got the pangrams and to a bit past genius.  Yesterday we needed bee buddy for xenon.

I finally got a 2fer right before bed again! husbands-steadfastly

Congrats on your baby, Caracal!

Langue_doc, that sounds like some serious hiking prep.  I also find I tend to get blisters mostly when something in the shoe or sock area is off, bunched up or something along those lines.  Sorry that your hike got rescheduled, but I guess better than canceled? Of course the weather was fine after that decision was made!

Happy solving!

Morning!

QBABM!!!!! Last word coin. LB husband-deftly.

Congrats on the new baby, Caracal and welcome to the thread! We're here 24-7 so jump on in.

Happy solving!

Congrats on your QBABY, ciao_yall!! And your 2fer, of course!

Good afternoon!

First of all, welcome, Caracal, and congratulations on the new baby!

I went to help yesterday for neon and nonillion and felt foolish, as I've gotten both of those words easily in the past.  Congratulations on QBABY, ciao_yall! Today I have four words to go, and only one of the two pangrams.

LB:  I had undefendable-ethyls. I found a 2fer today as well.

Happy puzzling!

Langue_doc

Afternoon!

Pangrams and above genius. I had to resort to BB for nonillion, which I've found quite easily in previous puzzles and for another word.

Hike went well, but there were several cancellations, which was understandable because today was the rescheduled date and also because there were a couple of other events by the same organization. We had a small cohesive group, and the co-leader and I covered all the structures/points of interest we had planned to stop at without having to rush.

Happy solving!
