A sort-of update:  Last week, I got an email from the PO, who wrote that my "proposal reviewed well" and requested a 2-paragraph public abstract.  The email also explicitly said nothing was guaranteed.  I sent back the abstract, and on 10/25 there was a status update (i.e., date change) for my proposal, though the status remains pending.

That's about it.  There's no further communication from the PO and my fingers very much remain crossed.

Some updates!  My proposal went from pending to recommended to awarded last week... all in the space of 3-4 days.  I think this may have been a quirk or error in the system.  It usually takes 3-4 weeks to go from recommended to awarded (perhaps the 10/25 status update was mean to go to recommended?).

In any case, I am relieved/excited and looking forward to pursuing the proposed research.  Good luck to everyone else that applied in this cycle!

Congratulations! A few colleagues have received negative results. Mine seems still alive. Fingers crossed.

I applied for a CAREER in MCB back in July.  Anyone heard from MCB yet?

I only saw few funded through the NSF Award site (possibly from last year applications).

anxiety_rising

Are there any news from EAR folks? This is my first year applying and I hate being so anxious about it. No status update or any sort of hint on my end.

oceanblue

Any news from CNS program? Get anxious about the result.

The number of 655 from FY19 awardees (2018 applicants) jibes with the press release from the NSF saying "nearly 700" early faculty received CAREER awards (https://www.hpcwire.com/off-the-wire/nsf-awards-250m-to-early-career-researchers/).

Using the same search methodology we can effectively track awards as they're made or as they are published. I'm feel pretty confident in the number of awards to-date for 2019 applicants.

A deeper dig can be done to search by award type and Program Director. Research.gov should show the Program Director considering the proposal.

Has anyone ever seen their status get updated to still "pending" before the award is recommended? I don't think I've ever seen that before, but it happened to me on Monday. I submitted questions and an abstract in early mid October. I feel like this could be my rejection being uploaded into the system. :(

lightofhope

I don't think so, and you should be fine.

Did anyone hear from the division of materials research  (DMR) - condensed matter physics (CMP) program?
