A sort-of update:  Last week, I got an email from the PO, who wrote that my "proposal reviewed well" and requested a 2-paragraph public abstract.  The email also explicitly said nothing was guaranteed.  I sent back the abstract, and on 10/25 there was a status update (i.e., date change) for my proposal, though the status remains pending.

That's about it.  There's no further communication from the PO and my fingers very much remain crossed.

Some updates!  My proposal went from pending to recommended to awarded last week... all in the space of 3-4 days.  I think this may have been a quirk or error in the system.  It usually takes 3-4 weeks to go from recommended to awarded (perhaps the 10/25 status update was mean to go to recommended?).

In any case, I am relieved/excited and looking forward to pursuing the proposed research.  Good luck to everyone else that applied in this cycle!

Congrats!

Did anyone hear from the division of materials research  (DMR) - condensed matter physics (CMP) program?

9 DMR awards thus far this cycle.
60 DMR awards in the 2018 cycle.

Safe to say awards are still forthcoming.

Has anyone heard from the ECI program of CMMI? I see the panel met on Nov 19th but I have not heard anything on my CAREER yet.

Did anyone hear any news from CISE?

Hi Everyone,

I have applied to CHE in July. Got contacted by the PM on Friday Nov. 29 asking about current pending and potential overlaps between grants. Talk to PM on Monday but I was not able to get any update on my application. Not sure what all of that means.

Cheers,

rsbacon

It looks like about a dozen awards so far from CISE.

This is not quite accurate. CISE has not made many awards for this cycle yet. A deeper dive looking at results reveals awards with a start date of 2019 and ending in 2022 or 2023. This cycle's start date would be 2020 so it would reason to believe some of the awards showing up in the search are continuing awards from previous years and not necessarily new awards for this cycle.

Based on that, if you do a search for CAREER awards with a START DATE on or after 1/1/20 you'll find 1 award in CISE has been made, which is most likely correct.
