I found this fascinating. One of my friends was heavily involved in the purchase of early electronic machines for our county so I knew a little about it. Deep in the article there is a reference to 1960s IBM, which is exactly what I was thinking early in the piece.

This was a great article on so many levels. I appreciate the academic perspective, "hey, it was interesting but I'm ready to do other things now."

I'm thinking that so few companies control the market and because they are private, so little info is available. Yes, it's legal, but I don't have to like it.
