You're responding as though this is an actual doctorate, rather than a feel-good story. Take a deep breath and smile!

Considering the sacrifices made by post grads and their families to earn a doctorate, especially in the midst of such a terrible economy and job market, I think the university's granting a doctorate to a friendly cat is remarkably tone-deaf.

Tell you what - Make the cat an Honorary Overpaid Administrator instead and I'll revisit my response.

There will never be a protest which does not upset someone.  That is why people protest.  I wasn't there, of course, but I would never have students, Jewish or otherwise, feel hurt and uncomfortable at any point, certainly not commencement.  Nevertheless, Israel has some actions and beliefs they need to be held accountable for.  Palestine deserves some support even while Hamas needs to be quashed. It sounds to me that Megan, Morgan, Becki, and Caitlin were fairly responsible protestors while making their point.

Silly, but it achieved the purpose of getting a bit of coverage.  Now I hope the beast doesn't get hit by a car.

Just looked through FB page for my 50th HS...a few years back.  Guess I couldn't be found, though I would not have attended.  For one thing, all those people areold!  And for another, I was struck by the joviality, as if they were still at the prom.  Finally, I am again struck by why I much preferred college....and never went back to where I grew up, except to visit.

Seems like a better recipient than most, really. And not likely to disgrace himself.
