I don't know what to say other than that the situation described in the article is really depressing.  A friend of mine is an alum.  He's very unhappy with the changes.  His major, which led to a successful career doing interesting work, doesn't even exist anymore.

I'm concerned because similar things are happening at our own institution. The School of Arts and Sciences is being merged with Nursing. Apparently the idea of a liberal arts education is slowly fading, and all people care about is job training.
