I'm curious to know whether anyone has used the Q&A tool https://piazza.com/ as an additional mode of contact/discussion in a humanities course? If so - tips? Experiences?

I'm considering using it to help facilitate student discussions & collaboration on writing projects, but not entirely certain how (or how well) it will work out.

Do your students know LaTeX or will this be another learning curve?

What do you hope to get out of this tool that isn't already on the platforms your students know?

Do whatever you want--I'm just the background dancer in your show!

Most likely they don't know LaTeX, but as this isn't a course with programming or equations I was just going to make use of plain text.

I had hoped that it might be a more fluid/responsive space for interaction than the discussion forums in Blackboard. The main advantage I see is that it's participatory in a way that is similar to social media, but it's a "walled garden" which is FERPA compliant.
