Apologies if this has been mentioned.

Does anyone know of a good app that students can use to anonymously post messages? I was thinking of using something like this in the fall, so that students who are too shy to ask questions can text them to a website where I can read them as I teach.

If you're on Zoom they could just use the chat line and direct it to your name instead of "everyone"...does your classroom projection/AV setup have anything like that?

I think there was a console at the teaching station that might have had something like that, in one place I worked at, up at the desk with the document camera, etc.; I didn't need it so I didn't investigate.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Reprove not a scorner, lest they hate thee: rebuke the wise, and they will love thee.

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.

Hmm, I'd have to check the classroom tech, but that could work.

You can set up a google doc that people can edit anonymously.  One of my colleagues does that to collect questions during class (and then answers them to the doc after class).

Good idea! Thanks.

I used Piazza which integrates into my institution's LMS (Canvas). Students can post anonymously or with their name. They can message only the instructor or the entire class (which I encourage and they generally do). At an informal mid-point evaluation, students reported that it was an important component of the class. It also have a live Q&A component, but I haven't used that yet.
