Dr. David Sabatini is no longer in the running for a faculty position at New York University's medical school. News of his potential hiring had sparked a protest.

Discuss.

ergative

Doesn't sound like a job offer was rescinded, so much as a conversation about a potential job offer stalled and Sabatini stepped back. Can't say I'm disappointed by the outcome. Judging just from that article, he sounds like an almighty sleazeball who was already found to be sleazy by an independent investigation.

Parasaurolophus

Even if an offer was rescinded, that seems entirely appropriate to me.

I'd imagine that if you hired him despite knowing all that, you might find yourself named in a serious lawsuit down the line. Nobody needs that, especially when you could hire any number of others who are just as good or better.
I know it's a genus.

It amazes me that someone as brilliant as Sabatini thought he could behave in that manor.  Guess he is a good example of how a pathology manifests itself.

What does a guy like that do now?  Start his own biotech company?
Come, fill the Cup, and in the fire of Spring
Your Winter-garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To flutter--and the Bird is on the Wing.

He's been in the news for some time now. It's surprising that NYU was even considering hiring him, given his record.

He already has started a number of spin-off biotech companies (e.g. https://www.technologyreview.com/innovator/david-sabatini/]https://www.technologyreview.com/innovator/david-sabatini/)--his brand might be toxic even to industry right now though!
