I find the the carrier huts have the most unhelpful techs. They might be nice, but they were hired to sell plans, not to fix phones. Honestly, my wife found the best tech at Walmart.

As I look more clearly into the settings files on the phone, it is clear that it is mine, that I could demonstrate this.   We will see what happens at the store.

It was just a bad SIM.  Verizon tech person switched it out.  I am happy.
