NYT: An Experiment in Lust, Regret and Kissing

Best selling author Curtis Sittenfeld wrote a short fiction for the NYT.

So did A.I.

The test was to see if readers could figure out who wrote which story.

Goddamn it, I figured wrong----I read quickly, and maybe that made a difference.  Not sure if there is a paywall on this one.  But it is an interesting and alarming experiment.
Come, fill the Cup, and in the fire of Spring
Your Winter-garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To flutter--and the Bird is on the Wing.

Thanks for sharing this work, @Wahoo.  I read the author generated and the AI generated pieces.  I guessed right, because the AI generated work seemed flat, with some cliched phrases.  The author generated work had more nuanced writing and character development - so it seemed to me.

I was interested to see that there is a lawsuit against some AI makers who have taken authors (and artists and everyone else's) work to train their AI without recognition or compensation.  I am watching to see how that turns out.
