This tells us that kitties [and other living things] respond to something that the electronics doesn't! Humans are smart, but not that smart.

Standard Time begins Nov. 3rd:

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.

Temporary salvation from sleep deprivation is imminent! The clock is ticking.

Recently read a survey somewhere that 0.62 of the population want clock changes to stop and 0.62 of those want DST permanent, so we get 0.62 x 0.62 = 0.38 of the population that wants DST permanent. That is hardly overwhelming and the same share as those who want to keep changing the clock, i.e. current practice, 1.00 - 0.62 = 0.38. I'm in the remaining share 1.00- 0.38 - 0.38 = 0.24 who just want standard time all year round, still a sizable minority. Which is why nothing can be done by the political system. Whatever a politician decides, s/he will make more enemies than friends. The problem is us.

DST, I remind all, was a WW I measure. WW I ended on 11.11.1918 at 11 AM. Didn't everybody get the memo?

Maybe DST is like taxes.  Once the government starts it, it will forever keep it.

Why do you associate daylight savings time with sleep deprivation? There are still twenty-four hours in the day, regardless of whether we are on DST or not. (This is not a facetious question; I am honestly puzzled.)

It's the Circadian rhythm. It is certainly true that a big influence on the Circadian rhythm is the influx of light.

I guess the Circadian clock is different across individuals. Jet lag tortures me more than it does some other people, e.g., but not all other people.

A solution would be that each individual lives in is own personal time zone. That's strange, but not preposterous.

Thanks for answering. I understand now. I wish you a speedy adjustment of your circadian rhythm to the current non-DST.

It's 5:30 PM and it's dark outside. I don't have to winter in Svalbard [Spitzbergen] after all!

I vote for this.  In my world, you can contact me and I will do anything for you from 6 a.m.-noon. Outside of that, everybody just leave me alone.

As I get older, the more inflexible my body becomes to a regular sleep pattern.  I am so exhausted right now... staying up late and yet still waking up at the same time or earlier.  Today my peepers opened at 2am.  While not totally to blame on the time change, it definitely doesn't help.  Wishing all of you some restful Zzz's.
