Thanksgiving 2024

I'm happily staying home with five days off from campus. My Thanksgiving meal will be non-traditional -- I'm thinking shrimp rolls, salmon with satay sauce, some yummy local cheese, and local produce. Haven't decided on a dessert yet.

Looks like a number of households around here will be having a somewhat non-traditional meal.  Some members of our church took up a collection to distribute do-it-yourself Thanksgiving meal boxes to some struggling households in the area.  In lieu of turkey--they knew that some of the households wouldn't be in a position to store or cook a turkey--they supplied canned chicken and a couple of pounds of local woods-to-table venison.  I know one of the recipients, and she's planning to make venison chili.

Not sure about the day, but Leftover Surprise is on the next day. My sister might come, along with a few old friends who live in the area. Plus some new friends.

Except I don't know where to get a really good turkey around here.

Our local Whole Foods just advertised sale prices on fresh (not frozen) turkeys.

We don't have a Whole Foods around here. HOW CAN THAT BE?????
