  • Finishing revising a coauthor paper.
  • Get the last figure for the April paper done! (Only takes 6 hours of computations per panel).
Writing will be a preliminary proposal for a contract.
Managed to get the preliminary proposal done in the late hours of the night, but spent most of the day teaching and fighting a model. Today, finish that coauthor paper, review a couple of 15 pages student written projects, a paper review, and see if I can sneak the time to run the final panel of that figure.

Today:

  • Work on Foggy Paper.
  • Do some preliminary research for June 1 Paper
I know it's a genus.

The fog's clearing a bit. With luck I'll have something palatable to tinker with after tomorrow, and can touch it up every once in a while throughout May, then be ready to send it off. I have to devote May to the June Paper, however, and June to the July Paper. (Well, that, and teaching.)
I know it's a genus.

Last day of this particular challenge! Good luck everyone!

For me today:

  • Spend at least an hour with Foggy Papper.
  • Continue the preliminary research for June Paper.
I know it's a genus.

I can't believe April is over already! I'll start a May writing challenge thread.

Had the grant meeting and we decided to wait till July to submit, so further work on that is off my plate for now.
Did not get to the paper yesterday, so my goal is to make up for it and do at least an hour today.

Forgot to update again-- I did do my hour+ yesterday, and did a little writing today in the form of checking grad student #2's preregistration revisions.

Although i didn't accomplish everything I had hoped to, April was still relatively productive on the writing front:
1. Grad student #1's R&R revised, resubmitted and accepted!
2. Grad student #2's R&R revised and resubmitted.
3. Grad student #3's paper submitted, desk rejected for fit (shows what I know about fit at that journal I guess), and about to be submitted again elsewhere.
4. Big collaboration paper preregistration draft finished and sent to coauthors
5. Long neglected R&R cover letter responses drafted

On to May!

A final success yesterday in the late hours of April. So in review, I made solid progress on a number of writing tasks, but didn't get that damn paper finished (but should in the next couple of days now that classes are over - yay for May).

Reviewed a bunch of proposals.
Revised two papers.
Wrote a contract proposal which looks like it will be funded.
Wrote about a 3rd of a new proposal.
Wrote a decent amount toward several papers.
Completed 3 paper peer reviews.
Finalized my edits and suggestions for 3 new papers that have been submitted (sadly, all coauthor).
Reviewed interdeterminate number of student written projects.

I'll call that decent progress after going to zero the previous month.

Before the end of the month, I have three tasks:
1. Wrap up an R&R and send it to my co-author to submit
2. Write a one page proposal for a edited volume chapter
3. Submit a funding proposal (which is essentially done)

All fairly light jobs, but busy with lots of end-of-the-semester tasks and meetings.
