Iphone/Microsoft authenticator

I'm so confused, I don't even know what to ask, but here goes.

I have an Iphone 14+.  I use Outlook for email, and get my jane@janesmith from GoDaddy.  Microsoft wants me to set up an "authenticator" on my computer email and gives me 10 days to do it.  I've followed the directions but there is "an issue" and that's it.  The end.  Period.

It isn't  coming up on my phone, at least so far.

Has anyone else encountered this?  If so, please advise.

It's an app, Microsoft Authenticator, where you can set up 2 factor authentication to verify identity via a text message, phone call or email.  Maybe try it by downloading the app from the App Store onto your phone?

At what point in the process is it saying there's "an issue"?

We had to set up Microsoft Authenticator for access to university stuff, including email. It's annoying. (And I never get the  authentication request unless I've launched the app.)
