Thanks! Well, I have stopped trying to make sense of NSF processes - there is just too much randomness in it. One thing that I have observed more consistently than others is that if your proposal status date changes without a PD contact, it generally is not positive news. I hope you hear something positive soon!

My CNS Core proposal (submitted in November) got declined a few days back. Haven't received the decline notice yet, but status changed to decline last week on research.gov. Before the status changed to declined (last week), the proposal status date changed (with pending status) nearly a month back (late April). Hope that helps!

Bumping this thread... This situation is driving me crazy.. my proposal status date for a NSF CISE core program got updated like 20 days ago (probably means that the reviews are in), but still no word on the proposal (the status is pending). Anybody that has received either positive or negative news?

Please help me keep my sanity...

Thank you for your response and I am really sorry to hear that your proposal got declined. I was hoping that if my proposal is to be declined (which I believe it may very well be the case) that, at least, I would receive a notification fairly soon after the reviews are in.. For example, if a proposal is placed in the low competitive category, I do not see a reason for NSF to hold on to making the decision official.

Yup, I agree with that. Some people say that NFS accepts the highly competitive and rejects the low/no competitive proposals quickly. The borderline ones stay on the bubble until the PD finds money or all the money is gone.

I wish I knew if that's the case...

Bumping this thread again... Anybody else that has heard back?

I'm still waiting to hear back about my CRII... Status Date: 01/07/2020; Submitted: 07/18/2019.

This probably implies you are on the bubble. My CRII that was deemed low-competitive got declined quickly (mid December 2019).

Just in case, we got rejected. Unfortunately, the quality of the reviews was really really low... The reviewers did not tell me anything that I did not know already..
