A fair few other tasks need doing today, but once the teaching's over:

  • Continue re-jigging June Paper

Today's been a bit rough for other reasons, but I'm happy enough with the small amount of re-jigging I've managed. Tomorrow's full of teaching and meetings, but I should be able to get a little something done.
I know it's a genus.

Today:

  • Work on Book Proposal (finish finding and clarifying the case studies, write ~200 words)
  • More work on June Paper, if I've the time
I know it's a genus.

Meh. I'll take it.

Looks like there's no internet today. Nevertheless, I'll soldier on:

  • 200 words of Book Proposal
  • Tidying June Paper
I know it's a genus.

Today is a busy meeting day, but I'm going to try to get through all the tedious data prep work for some analyses I owe collaborators, and also spend at least an hour this evening on preregistration #2.

Of course the analyses I thought would take part of a day took two full days, but they are done and written up for the collaborators.
Tomorrow: finally get to preregistration #2, do at least 2 hours and see if we can get close to finished.

Got side tracked yesterday but a student draft, but got to this today. We still have a chunk of the intro to do, but the methods and analysis plan are done. I've assigned some remaining intro parts to two of the grad students and the rest to me-- will see if I can make some more progress on one of my chunks later this afternoon.

I think June Paper will be ready to send soon.

June goals:

  • Finalize and submit paper to journal
  • Make revisions to R&R and resubmit
  • Make progress on other R&R (hope to resubmit in July or August)
  • Make progress on paper with coauthors (hope to submit in July or August)

Reach goals (not priorities, but things that I could work on if everything else miraculously gets done ahead of schedule):

  • Begin work on new project
  • Complete IRB for project in development
  • Figure out how to deal with rejected paper that I hate, with coauthor

Parasaurolophus

Today's heavy on teaching and admin stuff, but:

  • Continue touching up June Paper
  • Get another 200 or so words in on Book Proposal

I know it's a genus.

Only got one done because teaching-related matters interfered, but that's OK. I got a little ahead on my teaching stuff, so will have more of tomorrow to devote to the book proposal.

Got walloped through the end of last week with 2 proofs to deal with and a nightmare of an administrative task.
Have now finished up assisting with the editorial edits to a review paper.

Goal for this morning is working on revising a new co-author paper that wasn't on the list.

Let's try again:

  • Touch up June Paper
  • Touch up Book Proposal, add 300 words

I know it's a genus.

I like everyone's ideas to check how many words I am adding. I really need to track that better. I have been trying to do a little bit on long neglected project every day, even if it is just adding something I highlighted to get back to later. It is a bit disjointed but my co-author is being very gracious with patience.

The other new study with superstar and rising star is going well. Superstar is first author, and asked us about author order. I gave second to rising star since I just got tenure and she has a ways to go. The journal we are targeting is the top in her field/adjacent to mine, so it does not matter so much to me. She is doing a lot of work on the manuscript (as we are sharing a google doc), and it is great to work with colleagues from a tangential field.

My other excitement is that I got the research award from my professional organization this year, but the conference was cancelled and therefore, my presentation. However, I was just offered the opportunity to present it as a webinar (which is a full hour rather than 15 minute slot at the conference) later this year. Woohoo!

Congrats DSN!

Shelter-in-Place has been good for the writing.  Submitted article manuscript yesterday with its first revision since rejection last spring.

Now working on intro to book project, although feeling kind of dumb about subject----writing is always so much easier in the abstract.
Come, fill the Cup, and in the fire of Spring
Your Winter-garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To flutter--and the Bird is on the Wing.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Reprove not a scorner, lest they hate thee: rebuke the wise, and they will love thee.

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.
