Finished commenting on the half-paper stand-alone paper and sent back to my co-author. I'm not exactly sure how I managed to do all of that; I hardly slept last night and was having a hard time with my brain functioning in general. Thank you, brain, for at least allowing me enough capacity to finish this thing. In gratitude, I am not going to make you exert any other intellectual effort today.

Congratulations, nonsensical!

For my part, today:

  • Tinker with Book Proposal.
  • Tinker with April Chapter.
I know it's a genus.

I made a lot of progress on long neglected paper today. I am still aiming to finish the draft by June 30th but am not optimistic. I will just keep plugging away.

Good enough. Lots of admin/teaching/life stuff going on today, and the drugs don't have me feeling up to the task of doing any more.

Same two goals today:

  • Tinker with April Paper.

I took this week off from teaching. Writing goals are:

1. Finish at least one Ppt to replace tours this summer (colonial children's activities about 1/2 done, have to record videos yet).
2. More work (2-3 paras, at least), on French medieval thingy to get the "rough marble shape" Michaelangelo says we carve out the articles from.
3. "Day job" formatting of sendouts, match visuals to projected email campaign texts, and prepare to edit articles for the next e-magazine issue.

If I can get a good start on these, I can do simpler, lower-level maintenance work each AM before teaching in the afternoons starting next week, again.

Worked more on long neglected paper this morning!

Goals for the rest of June

  • Finish long neglected paper draft by June 30th - thankful for my patient colleague
  • Edit draft with superstar and rising star
  • Finish slides for presentation in first week of July
  • Help colleague start the process of creating an article from her dissertation

Filled in one section of one of the papers I was outlining earlier. Also received an R&R draft from a student, so my goal tomorrow is to look at that.

It's Wednesday.  So far:

1. Finish at least one Ppt to replace tours this summer (colonial children's activities about 1/2 done, have to record videos yet).
        - More work done today inserting slides for instructions and videos on activities (making a sampler, writing with a quill, etc.) More yet to do.
        - Need to develop the other 2 Ppts; one is started, but there's a lot to do on it. After the above is done, I'll have a process set up, maybe.
        - Still need to call city to find out if/when/how a videographer and I could visit the sites long enough to make the films needed.
        - Will then have to figure out how to import those to the Ppts, do voice-overs, and start putting them up.
        - PR? Can't hang signs out this year...hmmm...creativity called for; tweets, etc. for a start.

2. More work (2-3 paras, at least), on French medieval thingy to get the "rough marble shape" Michaelangelo says we carve out the articles from.
        - Nothing yet, maybe tonight, still...

3. "Day job" formatting of sendouts, match visuals to projected email campaign texts, and prepare to edit articles for the next e-magazine issue.
        - More done on these today. Sendouts at a good stopping point, awaiting input. Email campaign formatted, awaiting review. Articles next.

A semi-start maybe, no. 1 has a Sat. July2 deadline (in my mind, anyway...). Keep up low-level maintenance work each AM next week.

Better than it mighta been..

Just about done with the proposal now. I'll give it one last look tomorrow, I think, then send it off. April Paper, too; I was a bit stuck on how to implement a suggestion from the book's editor, but I've figured it out. I'll iron out the remaining kinks tomorrow, and that'll be done, too.

Minimum goals for today:

-Polish the intro to Big Paper
-Update that table so it matches the new analysis

Ideal extra goals:

-Clean up and comment all the extra code
-Create readme file for the code
-Finish up the 'appendix/additional materials' document
-Put it all in an OSF repository

Today:

  • One last look at Book Proposal.
  • Iron out the remaining kink's in April Paper.

And then, I'd better get a move on my pile of marking.

Ah, another day working towards accomplishing the bare minimum. No excuse, just difficulty focusing. I did make a loaf of sourdough though---proofing in the fridge now, will bake tomorrow morning.

Oh, dear, and I've just discovered that updating the table might be much more complicated than I thought, and potentially reveal a problem in the new analysis. I sincerely hope it's just sloppy code on my part now, rather than sloppy code from months ago, when I set the Huge Analysis running on that code throughout much of April and May. I'm done for the day.

"Code" is a four-letter word.
