  • A little work on Foggy
  • Some reading for the R&R
  • Read partner's new chapter

Done for today.
I know it's a genus.

Got a reject from a journal but feedback from reviewers was helpful. They basically said "it is too long, split into 2 or 3 papers." Meeting with my co-author on Saturday to discuss. There is definitely enough for several papers, but we tried to put them together perhaps as an experiment to see what reviewers thought, so I am not upset. A lot has been written so...woohoo!

One more comment down, two to go.

Edited because I didn't see the post above this one before clicking the "send" button: darkstarrynight, so sorry to hear about your rejection! I'm glad that the feedback was helpful, at least. It sounds like you're most of the way to a revision, plus multiple papers might be better career-wise anyway.

Lots of interference today, but:

  • Finish partner's chapter
  • Return copy editing on an accepted article
  • Maybe work on Foggy, if time permits
I know it's a genus.

Done for today. Tomorrow's a busy day of errands, but I'll try to do some work on Foggy.

Today: Foggy, in between errands.
I know it's a genus.

I finished addressing the remaining comments AND read through the whole paper to make sure everything sounded okay AND drafted the response letter. Just e-mailed the revised documents to my collaborator and am feeling accomplished now that this is off my plate for a while.

Got an acceptance with some revisions today, so that was unexpected good news!

Managed a decent bit of work on it, actually. It'll be ready next week, I think.

Awesome!  Congrats!

Infinite meetings today, but I'll work on Foggy in between them all.

Done for today.

Here's the question which looms, however. Foggy is a polemic against the kind of work done in a secondish-tier specialist journal. So: is that where I should send it first? =p

(Nothing at all hinges on my publication record save personal pride.)

Woohoo! Congratulations!

A student had sent me an R&R about a week ago, which I've been ignoring in order to focus on the R&R with my colleague. Now that that's off my plate, I started working on this other paper. I gave feedback on the response letter, which was more extensive than I thought it would be, and on half of the manuscript, which was less extensive than I expected. Toward the end of the day I saw that my colleague already wrote back with some small suggestions for our paper together. I'm grateful that he found time to look at the paper so quickly, and also I am going to ignore that paper until I've finished with feedback on my student's manuscript.

My husband and I are going away for a long weekend, which we both very much need before this semester starts. I hope that we are able to rest and to carry that rest with us for a while. I'll be back next week for more writing and more updates.

More meetings and a wedding today, so a reduced workday. But I'll chip away at Foggy Paper in between.
I know it's a genus.

Done for the day, and entering my last meeting before the wedding.
