Afternoon/Evening!

I think I made it to almost QB before leaving home this morning. Slept three hours last night, then long day, napped, long phone visit, and now I'm still half asleep.

Good night!

Langue_doc

Good morning!

Almost QB, but no pangram. QB yesterday.

quarks/sunflower

Easy twofer today, so must be the NYT solution.

ab_grp, meaning to send congrats and good wishes!

Several long days in a row.

Happy solving!

cathwen

Good morning!

QBwH for titmice, which is ironic because I have lots of tufted titmice visiting my dogwood tree. Today I'm at QB-1 and having a hard time finding that last word.

LB: Argh! I had quakes and quarks. I had flower. But somehow I failed to see sunflower! Oh well... I found a 2fer easily today, though.

Happy puzzling!

Good morning!

Got the pangram and to genius, but both took a while.  You're so close, cathwen! Good luck!! Yesterday husband had QBABH.  I was missing enticement, entitlement, icemen.

Argh, I also had quarks, but I just didn't really get time to look at it yesterday.  Today I feel like I'm close!

Thanks for the good wishes, Langue_doc! I hope you get to catch up on your sleep!

We tried for the Northern Lights again last night to no avail.  Oh well.  Forgot to say that we saw a very yellow bird with a black beak this morning.  Pretty sure it was a hooded oriole from the pics.  It didn't make any noises that Merlin picked up, so I'm not sure, and the pic in Merlin of that type doesn't look quite as yellow, but online pics look closer (like the second one here, by Frederick Mitchell: https://tucsonaudubon.org/bird_profile/hooded-oriole/).

Happy solving!

Good morning!

QB. QB yesterday, with oniony as the last word.

biographs/stormy, bigamist/topography

Happy solving!

ab_grp

Good morning!

A bit past genius with pangram.  Yesterday I got to QBABM! I think my final word was loony.

For LB I had bigamist-topography, bigamist-tomography.

This morning is the ablation consult, so we'll see what that doctor says.

Happy solving!

cathwen

Good afternoon!

QB yesterday with cryonic as my last word. QB today, albeit with a little nudge for the last two words.

LB: I had bigamists-sophistry. Lots of solutions with bigamist! No luck yet today.

Happy puzzling!

ciao_yall

Good morning from Geneva Airport!

Yesterday QBwSBB, last word mummified. LB nudge for finalize-eyebrow.

Happy solving!

Langue_doc

Good morning!

Pangrams and above genius. Dummied was the last word yesterday.

That's some globetrotting, ciao_yall!

ab_grp, hope the ablation consult was satisfactory. As for the hooded oriole, perhaps check out the local ebird listings to see if there was a sighting in your neighborhood? You could google ebird along with the nearest park, refuge, or even locality/neighborhood. Not all birds are vocal, so don't get recorded on the Merlin app.

Happy solving!

cathwen

Good morning!

QBwH for dummied, fifed. Genius with both pangrams today.

LB: No solution yesterday! None yet today, either, but it's early.

Ab_grp, I hope that your husband's ablation consultation went well.

Ciao_yall, safe travels!

Happy puzzling!

ab_grp

Good morning!

Got to genius with pangrams today.  Yesterday we each got to QBABO.  I think my final word was dummied.

No luck on LB, though I thought I got close! Maybe today.

As for the ablation consult, thanks! It sounds like he is a good candidate for it because of the type and timing of arrhythmia (occasional atrial fibrillation that the heart can self-regulate back to normal rhythm).  Holding off might mean that the arrhythmia becomes more frequent and then the heart cannot fix it.  Early on has good outcomes.  So he is scheduled for next Tues! Should take 2-4 hrs and then he will have to hang around the hospital for 4-5 hours (this is a lot less than it says online, so I am skeptical) because they go in through the femoral artery and want to make sure there aren't bleeding issues and so forth after.  They shouldn't need to admit him unless there are issues, but it might depend on procedure timing (we won't know til Fri or Mon).  Recovery is very quick.  Doc said some people go back to work the same day! Of course, after the heart attack that doc said that some people go back to work the same day.  Who knows.  Husband will take 1-2 days off but no major restrictions, certainly nothing compared to the open heart stuff.  The gist is to go in with probes, see where there are electrical issues happening that prevent blood from moving normally between chambers, and either use cryo or heat to stop those particular things from firing.  I don't think doc said which type.

Langue_doc, thanks! That's a good idea about bird identification.  Sometimes I see folks posting them on Nextdoor or Facebook, too.  And I'm sorry to hear about your continued CPAP ordering stuff.  I don't know how often they think people need to reorder equipment! Certainly not as often as they tend to call.  And good luck getting better info on your lung scan.  We often have trouble getting any kind of explanation.  And these are usually the same doctors who grumble about patients using WebMD to get information.  I really miss my PA (from PA!) who would at least have one of the nursing staff call to explain or set up time to talk with her.  I'm glad that the electrophysiologist who will do the ablation has great reviews, especially for taking time to answer patient questions satisfactorily.

Fly safe, ciao_yall!

Happy solving!

Langue_doc

Good morning!

Pangrams and above genius. That's it for today--some of the puzzles are meant for people with oodles of time and plenty of hired help rather than us mere mortals. Last word yesterday was pliant.

Just saw the solution to yesterday's LB. WTF?!

Happy solving!

cathwen

Good morning!

QBwH for pfft (really?) and pitfall. Genius with all three pangrams today, a bunch of words left.

LB: Langue_doc, I agree about yesterday's solution. I had hypertext, but it never would have occurred to me to consider omigosh a word, even if I had seen it. Needless to say, I did not find a 2fer yesterday.

Happy puzzling!

Langue_doc

cathwen, I remembered pfft and a couple of other words from previous puzzles.

ab_grp

Good morning!

Past genius with all the pangrams, but still a ways to go.  Yesterday we almost had team QB but needed bee buddy for pfft again.

Totally agree on LB! I would never have thought they'd accept omigosh (even if it had occurred to me).  I did get a quick 2fer today.

Happy solving!
