Yesterday I finished my part of the grant manuscript, and got the final work from the collaborator at the second institution. This morning I got the last section from my colleague here, and it is ready to go. Now I am waiting on a few folks to tell me how they want their name to look. I am also a little iffy on author order, and I am trying to figure it out because it matters to some people and does not to others, plus I added several people to the project after we finished the initial data collection and grant report/presentation.

Today, as I said yesterday, I need to put some work into my commentary. Since I'm already halfway through my office hour and haven't had the courage to start, it'll have to be later.
I know it's a genus.

Managed to finish the commentary. Whew! Now for those three referee reports...

Got up early this morning to write with a friend for an hour. ~200 words down. Would like to get at least two more paragraphs written before I switch to my teaching hat for the rest of the day.

Today, I should at least write one of those referee reports.

Submitted the grant manuscript yesterday, yay! Today I took off from my own research but did try to forge some collaborations among colleagues!

1500 words, and done. If I get around to anything else later, it'll be finishing the reading for the third report.

Goals for October:

  • Send book chapter back to editor with what I hope will be the final set of revisions
  • Make progress on very difficult R&R, which is due back to the journal at the end of November
  • Make progress on data collection project and accompanying paper. Step one is to get new RAs on payroll and on task
  • Finish putting together survey for new project

Reach goals:
  • Send out survey mentioned above
  • Deal with project that I hate and that I thought was dead, but that has been revived by my coauthor, who is very enthusiastic about this project

Book chapter finalized and accepted by editor

Making progress on difficult R&R

RAs hired and given marching orders, and first bit of data collected

Survey drafted and being piloted next week, but won't be ready to send out to all desired respondents until next month (or perhaps even December)

Dropped out of project that I hate

I guess I should clear another referee report today. Dunno that I'll have the time, but I'll try.

Got several pages drafted and an overview of the complete Intro chapter set up.

Much more to do, but....it might really become real.

Reprove not a scorner, lest they hate thee: rebuke the wise, and they will love thee.

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.

I wrote some letters of support for lab members applying for things that would support their research. Fingers crossed for them!

At a minimum, need to do the other half today.

Received an R&R today from a good journal, on a paper that has been rejected more times than I care to count.  This will be a secondary priority in November, and the top priority in December.

Didn't get there, but that's OK. There was a lot on my plate. Maybe tomorrow, although tomorrow's commitments are many.
