Oof. This is a hard month. Here are some things I'm working on. I won't make any distinct goals, because I never actually do them, but progress on these things this month shouldn't be a problem:

  • Submit that grant| This will probably happen---I'm just waiting for the external reviewer to upload her report before I press the button on Monday
  • Create those artificial languages for that simulation| No reason this can't happen; I just haven't sat down to do it yet, and I'll have time for it next Wednesday
  • Review that one paper|This is doable
Here are the challenges. Progress on any of these things would be awesome.

  • Start drafting that big grant that I promised to do during my performance review last month
  • Start revising that twice-rejected paper into the first publeme we're trying to cannibalize from it, along the lines that co-authors and I hammered out back in February, before 2020 really got started
  • Start revising the other half of that twice-rejected paper into the second publeme

    I like the word, "publeme."

    Makes sense. Intriguing.

Friday mornings are my designated research time for the week, and I usually write in tandem with a writing partner, but said partner is not available this morning, so I am posting here instead: my goal is to write two paragraphs of my chapter-in-progress [and, the hard part, not to look at my students' emails or any non-research work for the next two hours].

I'm out in the world today, but will try to use some of my waiting time to work on Co-Authored Paper 1, and to apply the finishing touches to Foggy, which I want to submit soon.
    I know it's a genus.

Did some planning for an R&R today. Now trying to prep for class but having an extremely hard time focusing on anything.

    Did it.

Oh, dear. Not much of 2020 left now, though I will be happy to see the back of this year.

    November goals:

    1. Keep writing a little every day
    2. Rework rejected manuscript for new submission in December
    3. News diet

Got more background reading and note-taking done, and drafted a few pages based on that.

I know it's the weekend, but I think today I'll work on a presentation for next week's online conference, and maybe also on Co-Authored Paper 1 (which we're presenting in a couple weeks...).

    Same today:

    • Conference presentation
    • Co-Authored Paper 1

We'll see if I can sneak in enough work in between all the class crap that needs doing.

Sent one of my lab members comments on something we are writing together. I think we need a couple more rounds, but this project has been going on for a long time and I'm glad to see it nearing completion.

I don't have the energy, but I should make some progress on my presentation for Friday, my presentation for next Wednesday, and Co-Authored Paper 1.

Today's the first day of the annual conference (on Zoom). There are plenty of Zoom social events--show and tell, talent show, trivia, drinks--which is pretty awesome. But anyway, all that means that the next few days will be low-productivity. Still, I'll put some work into Co-Authored Paper 1.
