Talk given (big success), brain drained, and... I guess I have to mark some essays, or something. Ugh.
I know it's a genus.

Rest, bask in your success, and remember how good the talk was before you move on.

You have three minutes.

More marking andt stuff today, but I'll make time to read a friend's paper, too.

Just finished jotting down great ideas for a book, about which I'm very excited. Gonna start working o  that soonish, J think. Strike while the iron is hot!

Congratulations! I'm so glad your talk went well. And I agree with mamselle, please rest and do something nice for yourself.

I got most of the way through giving feedback on the paper I started yesterday, just a bit more left for tomorrow morning.

Done reading the paper for the day. I'll finish in the morning.

Finished giving comments on my student's paper today! It feels nice to wrap something up before the weekend.

November goals:

  • Finish R&R #1 and get it out the door
  • Start and make progress on R&R #2
  • Finish R&R #3 and get it out the door
  • Make progress on ongoing data collection project and accompanying paper (fortunately RAs doing much of the work on this at the moment)

Stretch goals:

  • Distribute survey for project with colleagues

One R&R out the door, another should be out by the end of the month.  Data collection project coming along nicely, and I'll probably at least make some cosmetic progress on the final R&R.  So I think I'll accomplish my main goals for the month.
However I doubt I'll get the stretch goal out, due to a small (and temporary) roadblock that has popped up.

I finished my friend's paper yesterday, but didn't manage anything else. Today, I resubmitted a paper that was just desk-rejected (pffft!), and I'll put some work into Co-Authored Paper 1 later.
I know it's a genus.

Heathcliff

Desk-rejected here, too!  Now I need to rework this paper in addition to my current project.

I'm sorry about all these desk rejections! But, hooray for getting those papers out the door again. I just drafted another section of a grant I've been writing in my so-called spare time.

Two more mini-chunks written.

Desk rejects are annoying, but at least it is quick.  Editors in my field rarely give feedback with DRs, so I usually just send it back out as is in these situations.

Thanks! I can hardly lay claim to any sympathy, however, because it's my first one in a long while. :)

I submitted an IRB application today for the new study with my subfield colleague. I am sure it will take a few weeks to get reviewed, but I am just glad that got submitted! I have to spend the next three days grading papers so I will not participate in any research activity. I was able to review copyedits for one of the two forthcoming articles finally! The other journal still has not sent me a proof, so if I do not get it the week after Thanksgiving, I will probably contact the deitor again since my article is supposed to be in the only 2020 issue.

Parasaurolophus

The good news is that the book proposal (for an item in a new series) has passed review and will now be brought to the press's publishing meeting.

The bad news is that means I'll have to scramble to get as much written as I can in the next few months before my egg hatches. So I guess I'll have to get serious about these threads again soon!
