Did you post that before or after you found out how much doom there was to scroll??

Curious minds want to know...

After. Fortunately I put the finishing touches on the R&R and cover letter before I realized how bad things were. Otherwise I doubt I'd have been able to concentrate at all.

Kwell, I took a week completely off. Today I need to work on January R&R, since I only have a week left!
I know it's a genus.

Well, that's one set of referee comments mostly dealt with. Now for the (much harder) set from R2...

And in other news, I just discovered/realize that the semester starts Monday, and it's already Thursday. Shitbags.

More work on the R&R today. Unfortunately, I'll also have to do some stuff to pull my classes together for Monday.

Wednesday was a planned meeting with my research team, but we cancelled because we could not think. I am also attending a virtual conference this week which has drained my energy. I have tried to work a little on my spring courses this week and have a made some progress, and I am just waiting on other people to submit my book chapter due next week. I have a lot of data collection activities for my new study next week which is exciting, but I feel like I keep getting more random things piling on me (IRB review, manuscript review). I also have journal editor duties too that are time sensitive. I am grateful our semester got pushed back a week, but I still could use more time. I am sticking with Bob Dylan's lyric "The only thing I knew how to do was keep on keepin' on..."

Ugh. Didn't feel good, but I did it. Gonna have to put more work in tomorrow and Sunday, though.

It's a known php issue, we've been posting about it on the log-in reporting thread, but the goofy parts don't prevent posting or reading, etc.

Eigen is backed up at the moment and will work on it at some point.

There's a reddit option (also posted on that thread) but people are pretty much just posting here and going on with it until it can be fixed.

Thank you for letting me know! Things look normal here again for me, at least for now.

I did ... something ... toward the end of the week. I don't even remember, and it was just yesterday and the day before! Some kind of progress was made. Yep.

January 2021 Goals

  • Submit R&R due this week (it is ready on my end!)
  • Submit book chapter due 1/15 (it is ready on my end!)
  • Finish data collection for new study with subfield colleague
  • Start new study with college friend - our data request from an organization got approved last week within hours!
  • Finish second manuscript from initially rejected manuscript in summer with my co-authors - we meet this week
  • Return to recently rejected manuscript to make revisions from feedback and submit elsewhere

Just submitted the the book chapter! Yahoo!

Gotta manage some major progress on the January R&R today.

I've added 1100 words, and feel pretty good about today's work. I think I've dealt with the toughest issue in the R&R; now to deal with the rest, and maybe find several hundred words to cut... 0_o

This week is data collection heavy for my new study, and it is going very well.

Still plugging away at January R&R.

Still plugging away at January R&R.

I spent the day responding to one particular set of comments. This resulted in writing roughly 700 new words. And then I plugged them into place, and decided I was better off cutting the whole thing. So: it feels like a day wasted, even if it wasn't. But, on the bright side, I'm now only a few hundred words over the word limit (which would be perfectly acceptable, given what the revisions required).

An editor I wrote for on a weekly used to say, "You have to put it all in. You might have to take some of it out, but you can't not put it all in. Put it in first, and then take out what you need to take out. What's left is your article."

Made the blue-pencil marks easier to bear....

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.
