Poirot is just doing his job. He was assigned this course and is fulfilling his assignment. I agree that the department probably has a role to play here, but if Poirot is a junior faculty member, he's not in much of a position to be the one leading the charge on that.

Not blaming Poirot (or you) here.  Separate from that, I always wince when hearing that "just doing my job" phrase.
