I guess today I'll either read for Collaboration 3 or work on touching up a book section.

I'm tired today, and feel myself slowing down. Oh well.
I know it's a genus.

January R&R was accepted this morning! Yay! That'll be the first paper I've published which was based on stuff I teach.

Today: touch up a book section, maybe start reading for a new one. A fair few teaching and life tasks await, too.
I know it's a genus.

Late to the party, joining to push through grant crazy season. One went in yesterday (no errors from the automated check thankfully) and the next one has an internal deadline a week from today (which means we have to have all the many auxiliary documents in but can futz with the actual science a few days more). We are getting there but were already a bit behind and my co-PI's mom is now sick with COVID half way across the world so she is understandably very stressed and distracted. I feel terrible for her and am trying to pick up more of the tasks, but there are some parts where she is the expert and needs to do them.

I can't think ahead past the grant submission to the rest of month yet, so just doing short term goals:

Revise recruitment and retention plan doc
Revise human subjects doc
Revise inclusion docs
Rough in power analysis section text with placeholders for actual numbers
Figure out some effect size estimates and farm them out to grad student to run power analysis
Work on cutting text throughout (we are more than a page over. . .)

(And congrats  Parasaurolophus on both the paper acceptance and approaching hatching of the egg!)

nonsensical

I finalized the main document for the older grant I've mentioned a few times here - not any of the supplemental documents, but the main file elaborating on the proposed studies is the biggest lift. That's off now to some colleagues and collaborators who have very nicely agreed to give me feedback. I also just submitted another piece and am feeling very accomplished that I have not one but two things to report for this thread today.

More of the same today: touching up book sections, a spot of work on the new one. A large number of non-research tasks await, too.

Yahoo! Congrats!

Yesterday I met with the people I am co-organizing writing groups with to plan the next few meetings. This morning I had a zoom dissertation defense as a committee member. I do not have specific plans to work on research activities today or tomorrow otherwise.

Making progress!

Revise recruitment and retention plan doc
Revise human subjects doc
Revise inclusion docs
Rough in power analysis section text with placeholders for actual numbers
Figure out some effect size estimates and farm them out to grad student to run power analysis-->  grad student working on some
Work on cutting text throughout (we are more than a page over. . .)--> down to less than half a page over!

Today some more cutting and polishing as well as some more effect size estimates.

Got a desk rejection tonight - journal editor said we do not meet the scope (we disagree). Oh well, we got some feedback and will find a new home for this manuscript soon.
