Today I'm havin a last glance at the paper that was just accepted and de-anonymizing the bits which need it. Also, time-permitting, some work on a book section would be good.
I know it's a genus.

I found another home for the desk reject and we are within the page count. We need to make some edits with the feedback we received and then can submit in the near future. There is hope, yay!

Today is just for grading, but my new colleague here and I just scheduled a meeting with our "key informant" on our new project after getting IRB approval last week in a record overnight fashion!

My teaching schedule is going to ramp up next week and I have to finish putting together my tenure packet, so research will be on the backburner this month. But I have a few goals:

  • Resubmit conditionally accepted paper
  • Submit rejected paper to a new journal
  • Continue making progress on data collection project - RAs doing the bulk of the work on this at the moment
  • Make progress on 2 conference papers due in April

Rejected paper is now back under review. I usually don't mind desk rejects, but I'm really hoping that this paper goes out to reviewers so that I don't have to look at it again for two or three months.

I finished some reviews over the weekend. Today, practiced a talk that I'll be giving at a seminar series in a few weeks.

I nudged my co-authors on the rejected paper that has been sitting and waiting to be updated. I saw that one of my co-authors had a publication come out today, so I use that as an excuse to email a congrats and ask about the status of our revisions. We have a target journal in mind but hu has held onto it for so long that the other author thought we had submitted it!

I worked on newer grant draft today. It's connecting my research area to a different area that's less familiar to me, so writing was slow going, but something is better than nothing!

After 5 straight hours on zoom with my collaborator today grant #2 is ready for the internal submission deadline tomorrow!

I can now finally think about other goals for the month. There will be student drafts coming my way (in particular grad student #3 better get me her diss proposal draft sharpish), but I'm also hoping to make progress on a long neglected collaborative paper.

I made more progress on this draft today and finished the first section.

Parasaurolophus

I've not done much these last few days because I've been trying to finish up all my teaching-related tasks ahead of the big disruptive event.

Today, however, I got my (accepted) January R&R back from the journal with a note saying they'd recently changed their house style, and that I should rework it accordingly. So I did. (The style is kinda batshit, though.)
