workshop series about reading/writing strategies

Every year during May-June, I hold a small workshop series for my grad students about reading/writing strategies, how to read a paper and take the main message and also how to write a scientific essay.

This is our 3rd year, and any tips/resources/link would be greatly appreciated.

Cover the paper abstract, split into groups and have them read a paper and come up with an abstract. Compare to the actual abstract. Could do this as a pre or post discussion/lecture exercise on abstracts.
