Class prep took up Friday's work time (somewhat as expected, truthfully).

So I'm putting an exceptional extra day in today to see if I can get that first draft done.

I have a challenge on with a friend, which might help spur me on to actually finish sections when ellipsis thinking hits....

Ooops, there it is, again...

And again....

Stop!

Today was my first weekday back from a two week vacation, so I hadn't done any research this month until today (and not much today). Here are some goals for the next couple of weeks:
(1) Make progress on paper 1, which should be ready to submit to a journal by the end of July - if not sooner
(2) Make progress on paper 2, which is just a short piece based on some earlier work that I published last year - should also be ready to send off within a month or so
(3) Make progress on some off-the-shelf data collection for papers 3 and/or 4
(4) Do some outlining on papers 5, 6, and/or book chapter that I've been asked to write

I'm hoping to really get into the zone one of these papers and just bury my head in it.

I'll also have to deal with any R&Rs or rejections that come my way, but cautiously optimistic that editors will leave me alone until July.

I have made suitable progress on three of these tasks - and in the zone on one. I also have a fresh article rejection to deal with next month.

Done, although I'll gussy it up tomorrow.

Touching up the letter today, and putting some work into that book section if time and heat permit.

More done, more to do.

Every time I think it's about to be finished, another mini-monster raises its head and politely asks to be considered.

How do you turn down a polite mini-monster's very meek request for consideration?

I'm not too good at it....they're so cute when they're polite...

Did the former but instead of the latter I had a four-hour family nap. I think that was a better use of the time.

Still chipping away...

I also just did some work on the July R&R. Mostly running interference on a weird referee mistake.

I need to make progress on quite a few fronts this month. Book sections might take a back seat:

  • Start July R&R
  • 1 Referee Report
  • Finish New Co-Authored Project (I'm bailing out a friend on his book chapter contribution)
  • Start work on Collaboration 3
  • Start work on August Chapter

Stretch:
  • Write one new book section
  • Write a second new book section

I think it can be done. I'm finding my feet post-hatchling.

It was done! I didn't feel like I was doing much, but that was very accepetable progress!

Plus I wrote a colleague evaluation report.
