I'll work on one of those last two sample sections today, and try to get it polished up and off.
I know it's a genus.

Yesterday I spent most of the day working on data analysis since I am meeting with my subfield colleague on Friday morning to discuss our results. I am going to continue with this in the afternoon and tomorrow to finalize my part of it before we proceed. Then we return to the manuscript to get it done!

There has been a little drama with the two other co-authors on the revision due soon, but the first author and I connected and we are going to finish the revisions ourselves. I anticipate spending time next week on that.

Done, and almost done the other, too.

-write another page for item #4 (book chapter) due late July 2021 (now at 6,000 words)
-update chart with dates, inclusion/exclusion criteria, sources, references
-summarize timeline chart [drafted in ppt slide], upload p research documents to secure website-make chart 2 with dates, inclusion/exclusion criteria, sources, references
-Read/review/summarize relevant paper to add to research library for 2021 project

Short-term/ongoing goals:
-Try to stay alive, keep calm, and carry on while COVID-19 seems to be going away (finally!) so that research can continue
-Continue drafting item #4 (book chapter) with reading/review of up-to-date literature
-read, revise and email myself item #5 (s manuscript) and get it down to <20-25 pages

Long-term goals:
-apply for research funding

N(complete)=8
I need this grant approved...

Well, now that I'm making proper progress I realize that I don't have enough items. The key is lots of small items, so that I have something to check off even if I don't finish a full task.

Working on the last sample section today. If I'm lucky I'll have enough time to finish it.
I know it's a genus.

darkstarrynight

Yesterday and this morning I finished my data analysis and sent notes to my subfield colleague before we meet tomorrow. I am still waiting for the first author on the other paper to get my revisions done once hu is done. I plan to start looking at colleagues' sabbatical applications that were successful in recent years as I think about mine.

ergative

Huh, look at that. I've crossed off lots of things! I bet I can finish my ML project batch of tasks by the end of Friday, or if not finish, at least get a big chunk of them done. If I'm focused. Big if. Focus has been terrible this week.

I did some and it's close, but I don't have the energy to finish today.

Well, didn't get all the ML tasks finished, but I did get the most tiresome one done! Probably a lot of the 'building dataset objects' is going to involve fixing bugs in the combinatorial blueprints, but gosh it's nice to have those blueprints all constructed! What a chore. My desk is covered with crumbs from baked goods and snacks and iced coffees. Probably I should go take a walk.

Later, y'alls! Have a nice weekend!

My subfield colleague and I had a really good meeting today to review our data analysis and found we are pretty much on the same wavelength which is great. I need to work next week on a new "base" manuscript to work on because our last version is from November 2020 but then we updated it for a shortened conference proposal and they need to be merged a bit. I feel good about that on track for the 9/1 deadline.

First author sent me the manuscript for the R&R due 8/8 that hu finished edits on as well as our responses to reviewer comments. I have to work next week to finish my revisions and responses so the other two authors can do a final review before resubmitting.

I hope this afternoon to look at one friend's sabbatical application since hu is coming over for dinner!
