More tiny bits done.

More to do.

A couple small, polite monsters have been satisfied.

More to quell.

Today's task is yesterday's. I've selected my samples, now they need a brief touchup before I send them to friends for a second look.
I know it's a genus.

I'm switching gears a little today and touching up Book Sections in advance of having to send samples to the publisher in August.

Too much else took precedence today, unfortunately.

Are you at the proposal stage for your book, or are these samples something the press requested? In either case, good luck!

I have the contract already; it's just them doing a preliminary quality check.

Tinkered with several, though more tinkering is required.

Haven't been posting here regularly, but stopping by to say I just sent off a full draft to coauthors of a beast of a paper that I kept back-burnering and procrastinating on for the past year! Poor coauthors probably thought it was long dead, but I finally got through the ton of data coding and analysis and the actual writing up of results and discussion went pretty fast. Feels like a weight off!

I haven't done a first author paper since soon after becoming faculty (you generally switch to last author on your trainee's papers, but this was my own baby)-- it was actually kind of nice to get hands-on with data and first draft writing again. However, I also got a reminder of how tedious a lot of it is, and I'm now ready to switch back to last-author duties (and luckily one of the grad students just sent me a discussion section draft to tackle tomorrow).

More book sectioning today.

Tough day for it, but I finished touching up two of them.
I know it's a genus.

I feel badly that I missed the first part of July! I was so busy I forgot to login here to have a little respite. I met some goals this week already that I would have posted, so I might as well celebrate that I submitted the book chapter edits with three co-authors and the edits to an accepted manuscript with a former student, both way before the deadline! I also finished my presentation for the reviewer training I lead later this month. My department approved for me to hire a student to help with my new massive project by providing a scholarship. The description went out to our incoming and current graduate students in the department, and I look forward to getting that started next month! Also, I have an article coming out this month that is very timely with current events meaning it might actually be read by people!

Short Term Goals

  • Finish data analysis with subfield colleague on project (manuscript due 9/1)
  • Finish R&R edits with two co-authors due 8/8
  • Hire a student to support my new project/start working on project finally

Long Term Goals

  • Work on sabbatical application
  • Work on project with new colleague (we had dinner last night and agreed it is not urgent to work on this, whew)

Parasaurolophus

Well done, darkstarrynight!

Today is a day for a little book sectioning before I have to run all of the errands in the world.
I know it's a genus.

Finished touching one up, most of the way done a second.

EDIT: I snuck back in and finished #2.
I know it's a genus.
