Today I hope to get at least a start on #3, which recently graduated student just sent me. Tomorrow I plan to submit #1!

1. Big collaborative paper: final round of revisions and finally submit the sucker
2. Grad student #2's R&R #2 revisions (today!)
3. Recently graduated student's R&R revisions (next week when she gets them to me)
4. Get recently graduated student's other paper submitted (bug co-authors to get us their comments)
5. Get grad student #1's R&R resubmitted (bug her about progress on this)
6. Get CSS paper submitted (bug grad student #1 about discussion draft progress)
7. Start new paper with favorite collaborator and her student

August Chapter.

I cannibalized 1700 words from unpublished stuff I wrote years and years ago, so it's bulked up nicely already. I don't much feel like polishing it today, but we'll see what the rest of the day brings. I'm happy calling this good for today. ^^

Today I am attending the institution's internal grant virtual information session. I got this grant during my first year so I need to refresh on the process. I am considering applying for the grant for my big project that will take all year and into next year when I hope to focus on it during my sabbatical (if approved).

More August Chapter today. I want to clean up yesterday copy/paste job, and maybe start some other section.

You know what to do...

My goals:

  • Revise paper #1 (recently rejected) and get it back out
  • Make progress on paper #2 - possibly split it into two papers
  • Make progress on invited book chapter
  • Write and pitch op-ed
  • Work on data collection project - mostly this means managing my RA
  • Think about two book ideas and about drafting proposals

I also have a paper with colleague on the backburner, but doubt I'll have time to work on it (colleague is too busy to be interested and I'm not sure where to go with it).

Today I worked on the book chapter, did some data work on paper #2, and met with my RA to discuss data collection (which is going well). I'm very happy with how productive this week has been, especially after a slow August on the research side.

Yesterday was a bust with back-to-back meetings all day, but today I got #3 turned around. Not crossing it off though as it will need at least one more round. Also meet with collaborator's student for #7 and done for now till she writes a draft so crossing that off. Also added an item though, which I need to get to Monday at the latest (#8). Meanwhile, I really want to get to submitting #1, which is SO CLOSE. Maybe Sunday will be a writing day.

1. Big collaborative paper: final round of revisions and finally submit the sucker
2. Grad student #2's R&R #2 revisions (today!)
3. Recently graduated student's R&R revisions (did round 1, back with RGS for further revisions)
8. Comments on other collaborator's R&R

More August Chapter today. I want to clean up yesterday copy/paste job, and maybe start some other section.

I put in about 400 words' worth of cutting, did a bunch of rearranging and fixing up, and then wrote about 600 words of a new section. Whew! Not bad! I have one last section to draft, which will take me into the minimum length for the chapter. And then it's all polishing, polishing, polishing.

Three done, two more to go.

Then a buncha editing and cleaning up and fact-checking, but at least the slide-universe will be known.

Always a reassuring thought....

September goals:

1. Finish and submit new article that is almost written (based in part on a course previously taught).
2. Draft conference paper (preliminary research and notes almost complete, which is part of book chapter in the works).
3. Revise as much of book chapter 3 as possible.
4. Finish and submit R and R on journal article.

Last week I added a number of citations to 1 and worked through a lot of secondary literature on the topic.
I submitted the R/R (4.) early last week, and I made solid progress on the theoretical structure of 2. I did not work on 3.

Things to do week of September 12:
1. Complete a bit more reading for new article and begin seriously cleaning up the writing and tightening the argument (I have been aiming to submit this to a journal by the end of the month, but I'm not sure it's going to be ready).
2. Work through a number of important primary documents for conference paper and write a rough analysis of each one (I'm hoping for a very rough draft by the end of the month).
3. Begin revising other book chapter that I completely neglected last week.

mamselle

Kinda-sorta finished all the slides.

Much editing must ensue.

Not ready to celebrate yet, but...getting there?

Hmmm....
